For the past couple of months, rumors have been swirling about an all-digital Xbox One S with no disc drive for a budget price. Microsoft still has yet to announce the console, but a new leak has potentially revealed not only what the Xbox One S all-digital edition will look like, but how much it will cost, its features, release date, and more.
According to the leak, the all-digital Xbox One S will cost about $250. It will be announced at some point in April, with Microsoft accepting pre-orders this month for those who want to guarantee themselves a device when the console launches on May 7. The console will come bundled with a white Xbox One controller and will come pre-loaded with Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft, and Sea of Thieves.
Even though the Xbox One S all-digital edition is launching at a budget price, it will still provide some decent power for those looking to upgrade from the standard Xbox One console. According to the leak, the Xbox One S all-digital edition will feature 4K support, HDR, and a 1TB internal hard-drive.
Again, we must stress that Microsoft has yet to officially announce the all-digital Xbox One S, but the leaks have remained pretty consistent with one another. For example, it was leaked a few weeks ago that the all-digital Xbox One S would be bundled with Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft, and Sea of Thieves, which this latest leak corroborates.
So even though we don't have an official announcement, the evidence is mounting that Microsoft is indeed planning to launch an all-digital Xbox One S soon. It's a little bit odd that we haven't had an official announcement from Microsoft itself in regards to the new hardware, especially if it is aiming for a May 7 launch, but perhaps Microsoft doesn't want to distract from the next-generation Xbox.
All signs point to Microsoft unveiling the next-gen Xbox at E3 2019 in June, and Microsoft may want to avoid potentially confusing the market by making a big hubbub about its all-digital Xbox One S so close to E3. After all, the next-gen Xbox is rumored to have an all-digital, disc-less variant as well.
If the all-digital Xbox One S is really set to launch on May 7 as the leak suggests, Microsoft should make its official announcement within the next couple of weeks.
