Xbox Games with Gold has been a staple for many gamers for trying out titles that they otherwise wouldn't usually pick up. The free Xbox Games with Gold titles for October 2021 have already been announced and offer a mix of classic and newer games.
Now it seems that Christmas, or Halloween to be exact, has come early for Xbox gamers. As of now, two of the four games are currently available for early download one day ahead of schedule. These titles are the vampire hunting game Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and the shooter game Aaero.
Players can download the games by searching for them on the Microsoft Store or manually downloading them on their Xbox console. Aaero will be available to download from today to October 31, while Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will only be available from today until October 15.
Aaero is a mix between a rail shooter and a music rhythm game with electronic dance music. Released back in 2018, players control a ship to fight enemy vehicles in time with the music. The game takes about two hours to complete, but there are tons of side missions and other additional content. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is a 2011 release that celebrates the franchise's 2D roots for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game even supports a cast of familiar faces from the older Castlevania games such as Soma Cruz, Alucard, and Jonathan Morris. However, unlike the original games, this one allows six players to work together to hunt down Dracula at the same time.
The two other titles, Hover and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, will be available at a later date. Hover is a parkour-based game that puts players in a futuristic cyberpunk setting to take down an oppressive regime. Released back in 2017, the game allows players to flexibly switch back and forth from a single player to a multiplayer experience. Resident Evil: Code Veronica X is the remastered version of the original Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 game. The game takes place after Resident Evil 2 and follows Claire and Chris Redfield, who are trying to escape a viral outbreak from a research facility in Antarctica. There are also additional scenes in this remastered version that predominantly showcase Albert Wesker.
Hover will be available for download from October 16 to November 15 while Resident Evil: Code Veronica X will be available from October 16 to October 31. Luckily, both the Castlevania and Resident Evil games fit well with Halloween festivities for next month, which is perfect for gamers who are in a spooky mood.
