While it's possible that the wording is incorrect, it does appear as though Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can keep the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass forever after they claim it, even if their subscription lapses. Typically, letting one's Xbox Game Pass subscription expire means forfeiting freebies that were claimed with the subscription until it is renewed.

If one lets their Xbox Game Pass subscription expire, they lose out on pretty much everything that the service has to offer. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, that means losing the ability to play Xbox games online, losing access to the library of games available through Xbox Game Pass, and losing some of the perks that can be claimed through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier. However, the latter doesn't seem to apply to the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass.

This will no doubt be good news for Persona fans who have claimed the Expansion Pass through Game Pass Ultimate. Of course, losing Game Pass will mean losing access to Persona 3 Reload for anyone that hasn't purchased the game outright, so fans should keep that in mind.

Even so, this is still good news. For example, someone might be subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate right now and will have claimed the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass perk before it leaves on January 31, 2025. Then, for one reason or another, they may eventually decide to move their subscription tier from Ultimate to vanilla Game Pass. In this scenario, the subscriber will still be able to access Persona 3 Reload, plus they can play everything available in the Expansion Pass, even though they are no longer part of the Ultimate tier.

The Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass has been the source of some controversy. It recently came to light that the Episode Aigis DLC is locked behind the Expansion Pass and can not be purchased separately. This decision has not sat well with Persona fans, as some of them are only interested in the DLC and not anything else that comes with the Expansion Pass. Being able to claim the Expansion Pass for free through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could mitigate some of the backlash, though.

Of course, the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass isn't the only perk that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim right now. A variety of perks are available for a varied selection of games, and on March 21, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will also be able to snag Final Fantasy 14: Starter Edition for free.
