Microsoft's subscription service typically introduces new perks for its Ultimate-tier subscribers around the beginning of each month, though additional freebies are sometimes rolled out sporadically at different times. But this month saw a decline in the rate of such member benefits, which coincided with a decrease in the number of new titles that Xbox Game Pass added throughout May 2024.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Two Day-One Games
Xbox Game Pass brings two new day-one releases to its content library, raising the total of its May 2024 game additions up to nine.
Even so, a handful of additional freebies have just been added to the service in late May. The list of new Xbox Game Pass perks includes the Upheaval Supercharge Pack for Apex Legends, which comes with a duo of banners, two character skins, and just as many weapon skins. This particular offering is only available for another week, until June 3. Yet another bundle for the hit battle royale game Naraka: Bladepoint is also part of the new perk batch, offering a seven-day trial of some Legendary skins, as well as Season 12 treasures, until July 4.
Meanwhile, Sea of Thieves players with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription have until June 22 to claim the Ebon Flintlock Pack, which comes with the Obsidian Flag and Onyx Tankard, as well as the eponymous Ebon Flintlock Pistol. As has become tradition by now, the latest batch of freebies also includes another monthly bonus for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis players, allowing them to claim 50 Photon Chunks to help with weapon upgrades and half a dozen N-Half Scape Doll consumables.

A number of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perks that debuted in April 2024 are still available to claim as of late May, including the first 10th Anniversary Pack for The Elder Scrolls Online. Three months' worth of the Discord Nitro subscription, valued at $29.97, is also still up for grabs until June 29. Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have until mid-June to claim 500 Minecraft Minecoins and the Season 10 Perks Bundle for Overwatch 2. Tomorrow, May 26, is also the last day for them to obtain the Puzzle Quest 3 Green Knight's Gear Bundle.
The longest-running of the currently available perks is the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have been able to claim since March 2024. While many benefits offered through the service are inherently tied to its subscription, this particular bonus is free to keep forever after it's claimed.
