When it comes to Xbox Game Pass, potential subscribers have three different options to choose from. There's the vanilla version of Xbox Game Pass that costs $9.99 per month and gets console players access to the vast majority of the games available on the service, including brand-new day one releases. Then there's PC Game Pass, which costs the same as regular Game Pass, but gets players access to the service's library of PC titles instead. Vanilla Game Pass and PC Game Pass share many of the same games, but there are titles that are only available on PC and vice versa.

The most expensive Xbox Game Pass tier is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and it's really what gives subscribers the most bang for their buck. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs $14.99 per month, but it gives players access to all the benefits of vanilla Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Live Gold. On top of that, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate comes with access to EA Play games as well, greatly increasing the number of titles that subscribers have available to them at any given time.

So while the new Xbox Game Pass games for April 2022 have something for all Game Pass subscribers to look forward to, it's clear that those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate are going to be especially busy this month.

Xbox Game Pass New Games for April 2022

  • MLB The Show 22 (Cloud/Console) - April 5
  • Chinatown Detective Agency (Cloud/Console/PC) - April 7

  • Panzer Corps 2 (PC) - April 12
  • The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk (PC) - April 12
  • Lost in Random (Cloud/Console/PC - EA Play) - April 14

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get access to everything that those with regular Game Pass and PC Game Pass do, on top of extra games and perks. The first big day for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be April 7, as that's when day one game Chinatown Detective Agency is added to the lineup and a number of EA Play games are added to the cloud, giving fans the chance to play the games on the go or otherwise without needing to download them on their consoles.

Three EA Play games are coming to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate's cloud services on April 7: Dragon Age 2, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Star Wars: Squadrons. While these games are already available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers that are playing in a more traditional way, those that enjoy using the cloud will now be able to check them out.

And since Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get all the games that come to other versions of Game Pass as well, they can also check out Cricket 22 and day one game MLB The Show 22. Cricket 22 earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, but MLB The Show 22 has earned mostly positive reviews from critics so far. MLB The Show 22 has had some glitches and general launch day woes, but San Diego Studio is working to improve the experience for baseball fans.

Life is Strange True Colors

On April 12, three more games will be coming to Game Pass in the form of Life is Strange: True Colors, Panzer Corps 2, and The Dungeons of Naheulbeuk. Panzer Corps 2 is coming to PC Game Pass only, while Dungeons of Naheulbeuk is making its way to PC Game Pass after having previously been released for regular Game Pass. Regardless, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have access to all the games as those signed up for the highest-tier get everything that comes to PC Game Pass.

And finally, Lost in Random is coming to Game Pass through its EA Play integration on April 14. Lost in Random is an action-adventure game with an art style reminiscent of Tim Burton films. It earned quite a bit of praise for its sense of humor and creativity, and while it's not a day one game, it only being a few months old still ensures that it adds great value to Game Pass. However, since it's an EA Play game, only Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will have access to it, so vanilla Game Pass subscribers may want to consider upgrading.

Looking ahead, there should be even more for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to look forward to in April 2022. Microsoft likes to reveal the new Game Pass games in two week batches, which means that fans don't know what's coming at the end of April just yet. However, Game Pass subscribers should get a better idea of what the rest of the month will look like around April 15.
