Xbox Game Pass users whov'e been hoping for Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance to land on the subscription upon its June 14 release may be disappointed. Recent years have seen Sega and Atlus finally bring key titles of its much beloved Persona franchise to Xbox and Game Pass after a long history of PlayStation exclusivity. Renown titles like Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 3 Portable along with its all-new Reload remake, have all hit Game Pass. Even last year's Persona 5 Tactica joined the party on day one as well.

Atlus' next release, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, is ready to roll out on June 14 after being moved up a week from its original June 21 release date. An enhanced re-release of the 2021 tactical RPG, Vengeance looks to add new areas, music, more demons to battle, as well as new improvements to its turn-based combat system. The re-release will also add the Canon of Vengeance story route, offering an extra 80 hours of new content. Originally released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Vengeance will bring Shin Megami Tensei 5 to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC gamers for the first time.

Just recently, a user on ResetEra named vixolus pointed out a promotional Instagram video post by Atlas that seemed to confirm the rumor that Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will land day one on Xbox Game Pass. Shortly thereafter, Gematsu expressed hearing from Atlus directly that the Game Pass logo in the Instagram video was a "template mistake," and that the video has since been removed, indicating that Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei 5 re-release unfortunately won't be coming to Game Pass after all.

Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance Is Not Coming To Game Pass

Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance would've been a perfect Game Pass drop considering it's a re-release of a three-year-old game that's finally making it out to other platforms. Xbox has done a solid job of landing big titles on Game Pass a year or more after their release; Vengeance would've been a great fit. While it would normally be too late for such a game to be announced for Game Pass so close to its release, Xbox's June 9 showcase could potentially make things interesting. Set to go live just five days prior to Vengeance's June 14 release, there's the possibility for a surprise Game Pass announcement at the show; Game Pass fans should keep an eye out for Atlus' presence during the event.

2024 is a massive year for Sega Atlus. The studio released Persona 3 Reload back in February, it's preparing to launch Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance in just a few weeks, and its brand-new IP, Metaphor: ReFantazio, just recently locked in its October 11 release date. Despite being initially revealed at Xbox's showcase last summer, Atlus' exciting new steampunk-inspired fantasy RPG has yet to be confirmed for a day one Game Pass release. Perhaps Atlus fans on Xbox may learn more about Metaphor: ReFantazio and Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance at Xbox's imminent showcase.
