Microsoft reveals the list of games hitting Xbox Game Pass in September 2019. Subscribers to the service, which gives people access to a huge library of Xbox games, will be adding the hotly anticipated exclusive Gears 5 and five others.

On September 6, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will get to play Gears 5 Ultimate Edition, which is four days earlier than everyone else. The Ultimate Edition of the game also provides access to several DLC packs. There's the Halo: Reach Character Pack which adds Halo: Reach characters and cosmetics to multiplayer, the Terminator Dark Fate Character Pack which adds Sarah Connor and the T-800 Endoskeleton in multiplayer, the Vector Lance Weapon Skin, and there are 30-day and 7-day reward boosts too. Those subscribed to the standard version of Xbox Game Pass will get access to Gears 5 standard edition on September 10.

Xbox Game Pass September 2019

There are five other games joining Xbox Game Pass in September 2019. One of the best games of 2018, Dead Cells, and critically acclaimed shooters Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3 will join Game Pass on September 5, while pinball style dungeon crawler Creature in the Well will be added to the library on September 6. Less than a week later on September 12, another dungeon crawler, Enter the Gungeon, will be added to Xbox Game Pass as well as platformer roguelike Gonner Blüeberry Edition.

The lineup of new games looks a little different for Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers, however. Microsoft has switched out the two Metal Gear Solid games for fast paced action game Shadow Warrior 2 and the "brutal" roguelite, Bad North Jotun Edition. While some PC players will be upset not to get to play the Metal Gear Solid HD Edition titles, which aren't available on PC, Microsoft does tease that some Xbox Game Pass for PC games for September 2019 haven't been officially announced yet so there could be more to come.

However, as well as the new games joining Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC, there are several games being yanked from the service too. Vehicle combat game Onrush leaves Game Pass today, while LEGO Batman 2, The Maw, Joy Ride Turbo, and Splosion Man all leave on September 6. On September 30, another set of games will be removed as LEGO Indiana Jones, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, Split/Second, Ninja Gaiden Black, and theHunter: Call of the Wild all leave Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass subscribers do get 20% off the price of these games if they'd like to buy and keep them, though, which may soften the blow.
