Although it took some time for Microsoft to fine tune, the Xbox Game Pass service has fast become one of the most rewarding in all of gaming. With a monthly fee, subscribers gain access to a diverse library of games, including new releases on day 1. More importantly, Microsoft continues to sweeten the value of Xbox Game Pass by adding new games and securing more first day releases.
This week, the Xbox team announced seven new games that are coming soon to Xbox Game Pass. Among them are three new releases, three popular indies, and one family-friendly game. If past Xbox Game Pass additions haven’t convinced players to subscribe, then these games might just do the trick.

Arguably the centerpiece of the latest Xbox Game Pass additions is The Outer Worlds. Developer by Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian Entertainment, The Outer Worlds looks to deliver a deep RPG experience similar to the Fallout that fans remember. In Game ZXC’s review of The Outer Worlds, we praised the game’s staggering amount of player choice and deep customization options.
Another highlight on the list is Afterparty, a story driven indie from Night School, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Oxenfree. Afterparty is a game in a similar vein to Oxenfree, but with a darker (yet somewhat playful) theme.
Other games on the Xbox Game Pass Coming Soon list include Minit,Secret Neighbor, Subnautica, Lonely Mountains: Downhill, and LEGO Star Wars 3. It’s certainly a diverse selection of games, many of which have strong fan followings. On top of that, some of these games might not have been otherwise sampled by gamers if not for the “free” option available in Xbox Game Pass.

According to Microsoft, 91% of Xbox Game Pass subscribers ended up trying a game that they otherwise wouldn’t have. Moreover, many of the subscribers actually spend more money in the Xbox Game Store, which is surprising given the nature of Game Pass’ popularity.
Obviously, Xbox Game Pass isn’t going to be for everyone but it’s a no-brainer for those who are already in the Xbox ecosystem. Day One release access to any Xbox Game Studios title as well as some other triple-A titles is enough to justify the cost of the subscription on its own. But throw in a lot of indies and popular existing titles and there is a lot of value available to those who want to explore the library.
Microsoft has not revealed when all of these games will be available on Game Pass, but The Outer Worlds releases on October 25th.
