Xbox Game Pass is constantly in the gaming conversation, with word of mouth being one of the service’s best marketing elements. Indeed, part of this is because of the great value in Xbox Game Pass, but another is the constant influx of games. Xbox Game Pass has already revealed what fans will be getting for the first half or so of this month, but fans also know that more is on the horizon. Microsoft will likely reveal the second half of the month’s selection of games relatively soon.

It doesn’t end there, though. Xbox Game Pass will eventually reveal games for the first half of June, but June will also have some surprises in store for Xbox Game Pass. The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase is slated for June 12, and while many highly-anticipated games like Starfield are bound to be there, Microsoft has confirmed it would be showing off even more titles coming to Xbox Game Pass.

In the meantime, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be getting three titles on May 10: Dangaronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and This War of Mine: Final Cut. For those unfamiliar with the titles, here’s what to know before downloading them.

Xbox Game Pass May 10 - Dangaronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition

danganropa 2

Danganropa 2: Goodbye Despair is an obvious sequel to a beloved Japanese adventure game franchise. On OpenCritic, it has a Top Critic Average of 85 with 92% of critics recommending the game. In it, players are students of Hope’s Peak Academy who have been brought to Jabberwock Island for a school trip. It’s all fun in the sun until Monokuma steps in and folks start dropping left and right, and players will have to solve the island’s various mysteries to escape.

Its gameplay is perhaps best described as a fun, if quirky, detective approach to adventure games. As students are murdered in Danganropa 2: Goodbye Despair, players will need to investigate, discover clues, and interview classmates to deduce the opportunity, motive, and means behind each murder. They must then take this before the Tribal Council, which features mini-games where players must present their evidence against other students. This can lead to a 1v1 showdown where players are forced “to defend [their] argument.” Once players discover the murderer, they will partake in some timing and reflex-based games to reveal all and escape.

Xbox Game Pass May 10 - Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising

Eiyuden-Chronicle-Rising-Release-Date

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a classic and indie take on JRPGs, where players must explore the game’s setting and help a town rise from the ashes. Graphically speaking, fans of Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy are sure to find something to love. This also goes for the cast, as the game focuses on a group of characters trying to assist the town. This is because the town is struggling to rebuild following an earthquake.

Players are drawn here by potential treasure in the Runebarrows, but also must navigate the politics of Eiyuen Chronicle: Rising’s setting, while engaging in various mechanics to improve the said town. They’ll have to solve disputes among other adventurers, as well as with locals who don’t think the Runebarrows should be destroyed. However, it’s not all fun and games. The Runebarrows hide a secret that will greatly impact Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising’s characters, and this simple tale will spiral into a dark conspiracy. All of this sets the stage for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, given Rising is a prequel to this game.

Xbox Game Pass May 10 - This War of Mine: Final Cut

This War of Mine gameplay Cropped

Military games are nothing new, but This War of Mine’s take on the scenario is unique. Instead of an FPS game where players are a soldier, players take on the role of civilians in a more survival-focused game in This War of Mine. Players will have to survive in a besieged city, gather resources to deal with food and medicine, and always be aware of threats from enemy soldiers and scavengers. This War of Mine: Final Cut is all of this, remastered with updated graphics and new content. This includes one new scenario, all locations from the base game (remastered), new quests and events, and a brand new character to play.

When everything is said and done, it’s clear that May 10 is a big day for Xbox Game Pass. Not just because three games are being added instead of the unusual one or two, but because of the unique qualities of each game it is adding. Despite being a huge library, it does seem Xbox Game Pass has an eye for quality, and it hopefully remains that way.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers get a handful of games every month.
