Microsoft has updated the selection of games available through its Xbox Game Pass subscription service yet again, this time adding a co-op game for subscribers to try in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is making its Xbox console debut on Xbox Game Pass, so it can arguably still be classified as a day one game, but it's actually been available on PC for about a year now.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide first released on PC last year. Originally, the plan was for the game to launch on PC and consoles simultaneously, but the Xbox Series X version was ultimately delayed. Those with PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate have been able to play Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on PC through their subscriptions, but now Xbox gamers can finally get in on the action.
New Xbox Game Pass Game is Being Review Bombed
A new Xbox Game Pass game with rave reviews from critics is being review bombed by some upset Xbox gamers.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is now available across all Xbox Game Pass tiers. Darktide is a co-op shooter game set in the popular Warhammer 40K universe. The PC version earned mixed reviews when it first released, but updates have since been released for the game that should make it a better experience now than it was a year ago. It should be noted that Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a next-gen game, so while there is a native Xbox Series X version of the game to play, there isn't an Xbox One equivalent.
Even so, it's still technically possible for Xbox One gamers to play Warhammer 40,000: Darktide if they are signed up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. As it so happens, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been added to Xbox's Cloud Gaming initiative, meaning it is playable on older hardware through the cloud. This may not be the ideal way to play the game, but it's certainly better than nothing for those that have yet to upgraded to the newest Xbox consoles.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers have a few more games to look forward to when it comes to Wave 1 of the October 2023 new additions. The headlining new game for October 2023 is racing game Forza Motorsport, set to launch on October 10. Forza will be followed by From Space on October 12, while Like a Dragon: Ishin will join the Xbox Game Pass lineup on October 17. Other games will be added to Xbox Game Pass in the second half of October 2023, and there will be some games removed from Game Pass this month as well.
