Xbox Game Pass subscribers get access to over 100 PC and Xbox games, with Ultimate members also benefiting from the monthly Games with Gold promotion. Games come and go from the service, however, with Titanfall leaving today and four other titles having departed the day before.

However, today, March 1st, also marked the arrival of two new games on Xbox Game Pass. Subscribers now have free access to Far: Changing Tides and Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Of the two games, Microsoft Flight Simulator needs the shortest introduction. The popular flight sim was released for PC and Xbox Series X/S in 2020. After years of inactivity, it marked the triumphant return of a long-running game series that began all the way back in 1982. Microsoft Flight Simulator already launched on Game Pass for Console end PC but did not support Cloud gaming until today. Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers can now stream the game to phones, tablets, and Xbox One, in addition to the next-gen consoles.

Meanwhile, Far: Chasing Tides is a new vehicle survival game that’s seen rave reviews over the last few days. This makes it a definite win for Xbox Game Pass Subscribers. The game comes from Swiss developer Okomotive and follows a similar format to the studio’s previous game, Far: Lone Sails. However, Far:Changing Tides swaps Lone Sails’ sea of sand for one of water. Players take control of a small boy named Toe, who must explore a flooded world in search of a new home. They do this by solving challenging puzzles and scavenging resources to maintain and upgrade Toe’s ship. The game launched today on PC and consoles, with Cloud Gaming support for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

The new game's basic premise of a small child exploring a flooded world also sounds remarkably like the 2016 roguelike survival game The Flame in the Flood. The older game is free to keep right now for Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass Ultimate Subscribers. The latter group now has an excellent opportunity to compare the two games. One must wonder if Microsoft planned this when adding The Flame in The Flood to March’s Games with Gold lineup.

Far: Chasing Tides retails for about $20, with Microsoft Flight Simulator being a full-priced $60 game. On the other hand, Game Pass for PC or Console runs at $10 a month after the initial trial period. Meanwhile, the more comprehensive Game Pass Ultimate membership costs about $15 a month after the trial ends.
