The first official Xbox Game Pass launch title for 2024 has just been confirmed as Magical Delicacy. For nearly six years, Xbox Game Pass has offered subscribers access to a growing library of video games on Xbox consoles and PC for a small monthly fee. These games range from smaller indie releases to large-scale AAA blockbusters, and more titles are added every month. Xbox Game Pass has even been used to bolster the latest Xbox releases.

The last couple of years have been a busy and exciting time for Xbox Game Pass. 2023 looks to continue this trend, as up to four Day One Xbox Game Pass titles are being added in March alone. This will come on the heels of February’s slate of Game Pass titles, which will end with the FPS/RPG hybrid Atomic Heart on February 21.

Even a few short months into 2023, Microsoft is already looking into the future by announcing the first Day One Xbox Game Pass launch for 2024. Over the weekend, it was confirmed that Magical Delicacy will make its initial debut on Game Pass. This colorful, Metroidvania-style side-scrolling adventure title puts players in the role of a young witch named Flora as she bakes all kinds of delicious confections and delivers them to the citizens of a magical town. So far there hasn’t been an official release date confirmed for Magical Delicacy, but it is said to be launching on Xbox consoles and Steam sometime next year. An announcement trailer was also released earlier today.

Magical Delicacy’s launch will surely be bolstered by Xbox Game Pass, which has gained over 25 million subscribers as of last year. 2022 was somewhat slow for the service due to a lack of major Xbox exclusives overall. However, observers are hopeful that 2023 will be a much more fruitful year for Xbox Game Pass thanks to Microsoft’s impending buyout of Activision Blizzard and the launch of high-profile games like the stylized hit Hi-Fi Rush and Bethesda’s long-awaited RPG space epic Starfield.

2023 might still be young, but Microsoft already has plans for Xbox Game Pass well into next year if Magical Delicacy is any indication. Indie developer skaule’s colorful blend of cooking and RPG exploration looks to be a good fit among Xbox Game Pass’s smaller indie offerings, and it has the added honor of being one of the first Xbox Game Pass titles to be confirmed for 2024.
