High on Life recently made its debut on Xbox Game Pass, a title from Ricky and Morty creator Justin Roiland's Squanch Games, and it has soared to the tops of the most popular charts. It's not for everyone, as many may be put off by its irreverent and oftentimes ridiculous humor, but it has certainly found its audience.

On Xbox Game Pass, High On Life has soared to the top of the most popular chart, as reported by game industry analyst Benji-Sales. On PC Game Pass, it finds itself in the #2 spot—and that's against stiff competition.

Benji-Sales is pretty confident that "High on Life is the biggest Game Pass 'Day 1' launch of 2022," as it currently beating Minecraft and Forza Horizon 5. These two games consistently top the most popular charts, and it's easy to see why. Minecraft is more a cultural phenomenon than just a video game, and Forza Horizon 5 is an incredibly popular racing game and first-party title from Microsoft's umbrella. Meanwhile, the one game topping it on PC Game Pass is Solitaire, which has basically never left the #1 spot. This bodes incredibly well for Squanch Games, with Benji suggesting an exclusive High on Life 2 deal between Microsoft and Squanch Games would be beneficial for the burgeoning IP and companies involved, based on these findings.

Indeed, High on Life sticks out. In it, players take on the role of a fledgling bounty hunter, assisted by celebrity-voiced talking guns called Gatlians, who seeks to take down the G3 Cartel. This criminal group turns alien species into drugs, with humanity becoming the latest to hit the galaxy. They'll face powerful enemies in this G3 cartel, as well as a plenitude of foot soldiers, and eventually form a new family in the process.

As we wrote in our High on Life review, it is a "consistently entertaining game from start to finish. It proves Squanch Games is capable of delivering an excellent traditional gaming experience alongside its high-quality VR titles, and it will be exciting to see what the studio does next. Whether they play it through Xbox Game Pass or not, gamers should make it a point to play High on Life ASAP. It's a wild ride that deserves to be experienced unspoiled."

High on Life is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
