Xbox Game Pass adds a new game called Planet of Lana today, which is available on PC and console. This day-one title is an action-adventure indie title, one that also describes itself as a "cinematic puzzle adventure" that crosses time and space amid a young girl's rescue mission. All in all, it's a strong addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup for May 2023.

Diving into it, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can expect beautiful graphics, companion-based gameplay, fun action sequences, unique puzzles, and gameplay that requires stealth and wit over action. Planet of Lana checks off a lot of boxes, and that's reflected in its reviews too.

According to review aggregate site OpenCritic, Planet of Lana currently sits at a 'Strong' overall rating, with its Top Critic Average being 82 and 87% of critics recommending the title. There are 31 reviews for the title as a whole, but its lowest score is a 7 and that comes from three of the reviews. The vast majority of them are 9s, with some in the middle between 7.5 and 8.5, but that's definitely a good spread for an indie game. Not to mention, as a whole for an Xbox Game Pass title.

Following Planet of Lana is Pokemon clone Cassette Beasts on console, Massive Chalice, Railway Empire 2, Chicory: A Colorful Tale, and Farworld Pioneers. These may be smaller, more niche titles, but each one is something special. Cassette Beasts received tons of praise at its PC launch, Massive Chalice is an addicting strategy game from Double Fine, Chicory is absolutely adorable, and so there's a nice variety here.
