The Quarry is now available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The renowned survival horror experience is the ninth title to reach Microsoft's subscription service in March 2024, as well as the 36th Xbox Game Pass addition since the turn of the year.

Developed by the horror veterans at Supermassive Games, The Quarry was released to critical acclaim in June 2022. Many reviewers praised the game's atmosphere, choice-driven narrative, and overall writing, which they opined successfully combined extreme tension with moments of levity. The Quarry was nominated for half a dozen accolades and currently sits at nearly 7,500 "Very Positive" reviews on Steam.

Xbox Game Pass Version of The Quarry Is Cloud and Console Only

Select Xbox Game Pass members who haven't yet got a chance to play it can finally see what all the fuss was about starting today, March 20. "Select" because, unlike the vast majority of titles that make their way to Microsoft's subscription service, The Quarry is only available on consoles and via Xbox Cloud Gaming. While some Xbox Game Pass titles do occasionally skip PC, that most often happens with games without PC ports. Microsoft did not elaborate on the decision not to make The Quarry available to PC Game Pass users.

Nevertheless, The Quarry further bolsters the already long list of high-quality horror titles on Xbox Game Pass. Its debut also arrives just two months after Microsoft's subscription library has expanded to include another pair of well-received horror games in the form of Those Who Remain and the Resident Evil 2 remake. None of those titles are particularly long, with a single playthrough of The Quarry being estimated to take around ten hours. However, the newly added survival horror game is also fairly replayable, as it boasts 186 endings.

Granted, that figure refers to the number of permutations of who gets to survive the game's gruesome events, and in what state, based on the player's choices throughout the story. While there hence won't be a need to actually replay The Quarry 186 times to see everything it has to offer, horror genre aficionados are still likely to find it worth experiencing multiple times.

The Quarry won't be the last of March 2024 additions to Xbox Game Pass; Flying Wild Hod's third-person shooter Evil West is scheduled to reach the service on March 21, followed by Pavonis Interactive's sci-fi strategy game Terra Invicta on March 26. Microsoft then intends to end the month on a high note by simultaneously releasing three games, Diablo 4, Open Roads, and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, on March 28.
