  • Microsoft has been consistently adding quality content to Xbox Game Pass.
  • Microsoft may surprise Game Pass subscribers with the arrival of Lords of the Fallen later this month.

A recent report from a reputable Xbox insider suggests that one of 2023's biggest Soulslikes, Lords of the Fallen, could be coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. If true, the addition of this relatively new AAA game to the popular subscription service would mark yet another major inclusion to Xbox Game Pass, which has received consistent, quality content in recent months.

Game Pass subscribers have largely had it good so far in 2024, as Microsoft has treated fans to a number of notable additions to the service lately. Titles like Persona 3 Reload, Dead Island 2, Tales of Arise, Palworld, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Evil West, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, and Diablo 4 are only some of the several big games that have been added to Game Pass recently. Despite a lack of first-party releases in early 2024 from Microsoft themselves, the company has still managed to provide a steady stream of noteworthy Game Pass content to satiate fans for the time being. While many Xbox gamers are currently looking toward the release of Hellblade 2 on May 16 as the next big addition to the service, it seems that Microsoft might even have a big surprise in store for Game Pass subscribers later this month.

The first title to reach Xbox Game Pass in May 2024 is a triple-A experience with excellent reviews from fans and critics alike.

According to a report from Xbox insider eXtas1s on eXputer, 2023's Lords of the Fallen, the well-received Soulslike from Romanian developer Hexworks, is set to release on Xbox Game Pass later this month. Sources close to the prominent leaker reportedly told them that the game is currently scheduled to drop on Microsoft's subscription service sometime during the final week of May. Though eXtas1s claims they did receive an exact date as to when the graphically-stunning Soulslike will be added to Game Pass, they declined to share it publicly in the event that "there are last-minute plans to up the release by a day or two."

Lords of the Fallen Would Be a Great Addition to Xbox Game Pass

This rumor comes shortly after the final free update for Lords of the Fallen was released back in April 2024. The update in question, titled Master of Fate, added a number of new features and fixes to the game, from quality-of-life enhancements and performance improvements to stat modifiers and questlines, among other things. With development on Lords of the Fallen seemingly wrapping up, it makes sense, then, that Hexworks would like to let the fully-realized version of its game reach a wider audience by releasing it on a subscription service. If this is indeed the case, then it would certainly be a welcome surprise for many Xbox fans looking to play a new Soulslike on Xbox Game Pass.

Even if this particular rumor doesn't turn out to be true, members of Microsoft's popular subscription service still have several new releases to look forward to later this month. In fact, Xbox recently confirmed four games set to release on Game Pass in May 2024, including critically-acclaimed hits like Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and day-one additions like Little Kitty Big City. As usual, more games will be announced for Xbox Game Pass in the second half of May, and hopefully, Lords of the Fallen will be among them.
