Ascendant Studios’ Immortals of Aveum is now available via EA Play for PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The magic-based first-person shooter launched in August 2023 and was already offered on PlayStation Plus in April. Now, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have their chance to try out the first project released by a group of Dead Space and Call of Duty veteran developers at their new studio.
EA Play is a monthly subscription service that gives members access to select titles from Electronic Arts’ diverse selection of games, and some of them can even be played in timed trials days before launch. PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers get an EA Play membership for free. So, anybody already taking advantage of the benefits of a Game Pass subscription also gets the perks of EA Play, such as in-game rewards, trials for upcoming releases, and a 10% discount on EA digital purchases.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Memorable Adventure Classic to Its Catalog of Games Today
Microsoft’s gaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, adds a memorable narrative adventure title that is considered a classic by many.
One of the EA games added to Xbox Game Pass in May is Immortals of Aveum, and subscribers can also take advantage of their 10% discount to upgrade to the deluxe edition for a limited time. The game follows the evolution of Jak, a pickpocket with magical powers, who gets recruited by the Grand Magnus of the Immortals to fight in the Everwar.
Immortals of Aveum has very mixed reviews. It had a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam and has won and been nominated for several awards. At the same time, it has a 6.2 average user rating on Metacritic at the time of writing and review scores ranging from 4/10 to 10/10 on OpenCritic. So, whether a person enjoys the game will truly be a matter of personal taste, and the title’s addition to the Xbox Game Pass catalog will give gamers the opportunity to check it out without regret if they end up not being a fan.

Another Xbox Game Pass title some players may want to try out is EA Sports NHL 24, which was added to the EA Play library in April for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. On May 16, the sports game became available to enjoy via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This 33rd entry in the long-running NHL series of hockey-based games is only available on console.
Xbox Game Pass generally provides an appealing value for gamers who like to have a vast array of options to choose from at all times. It allows them to try out a game for a few minutes, hours, or even dig in for months without shelling out the cash to purchase each title individually. The only thing to watch out for is that Xbox Game Pass regularly removes games from the selection in order to make room for new ones.
