Xbox Game Pass is adding Railway Empire 2 as a day one release on May 25 across PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Microsoft itself will announce all the Xbox Game Pass games for May 2023 at some point next month, but release date announcements let fans know what they can expect from the subscription service ahead of time.
Besides Railway Empire 2, there are three other games confirmed for Xbox Game Pass so far. On May 2, co-op vampire shooter game Redfall will join the Xbox Game Pass lineup, while Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is coming on May 11. Survival-horror game Amnesia: The Bunker is scheduled to join Game Pass on May 16, and it too is a day one release. Railway Empire 2 makes the fourth day one release confirmed for Xbox Game Pass in May 2023 so far, but it's quite possible that more titles will be announced in the weeks ahead.
Railway Empire 2 joining Xbox Game Pass on May 25 will give subscribers the chance to play the sequel to one of the more popular railroad simulation games. The original Railway Empire earned mostly positive reviews from critics, and so hopefully the sequel is able to build on what fans liked about its predecessor and deliver an even better experience. Granted, Railway Empire 2 will likely be a fairly niche game, but fans of the genre or train enthusiasts will want to mark its Xbox Game Pass debut on their calendars.
Even if Railway Empire 2 isn't one's cup of tea, there are no shortage of games to play on Xbox Game Pass. There are well over 100 games on Xbox Game Pass at any given time spanning all kinds of genres, ensuring that subscribers regularly have high quality titles to play. And while it's true that games leave Xbox Game Pass every month, there's almost always more games coming to the service than there are going.
As far as the new Xbox Game Pass games for May 2023 go, Redfall will likely be the headliner. The latest effort from Arkane, Redfall has looked impressive so far, and so hopefully it is able to live up to expectations. Frictional Games' Amnesia: The Bunker also stands a good shot at being one of the most notable new Xbox Game Pass games this year, but horror fans will have to wait to play it for themselves to find out.
While May 2023 is already shaping up to be a strong month for Xbox Game Pass, April 2023 is no slouch either. There are some games coming to Xbox Game Pass in April 2023 that show a lot of promise, including Minecraft Legends on April 18 and The Last Case of Benedict Fox on April 27.
