Highlights

  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are losing access to Hitman: World of Assassination and F1 2021 today.
  • EA Play, included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offers free trials of new EA games and a selection of EA-published titles.
  • February has been a great month for Xbox Game Pass with additions like Resident Evil 2 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and more games to come in the near future.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is set to lose both Hitman: World of Assassination and F1 2021 after today, January 31. The Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass gives subscribers access to everything that comes with Xbox Game Pass Core, vanilla Game Pass, and PC Game Pass. One of the main benefits of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is that it includes EA Play and the library of games associated with that particular subscription service.

EA Play doesn't include day one games, but it often lets subscribers play free trials of brand-new EA games. It also includes an impressive selection of EA-published titles, ranging from relatively recent sports games to older classics, like the original Dead Space trilogy, for instance. Due to expiring licenses and other circumstances, games are occasionally removed from the EA Play lineup, which is what's happening with F1 2021.

F1 2021 being removed from EA Play is why Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers are losing access to two games today. Hitman: World of Assassination, the other game being removed, is part of vanilla Game Pass. As always, interested Game Pass subscribers that want to buy the games at a 20% discount to keep them forever have the chance to do so. But once the games are removed from Game Pass, they return to their usual asking price.

Xbox Game Pass Games Leaving Today

  • F1 2021
  • Hitman: World of Assassination

It's always sad to see Xbox Game Pass games go, but this has otherwise been an incredible month for the service. Multiple high-profile games were added to Xbox Game Pass this past month, including the Resident Evil 2 remake and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, not to mention surprise hit Palworld. Palworld has proven to be a massive success on Xbox Game Pass, rising to the top of the service's most-played charts shortly after its early access launch.

There is even more for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to look forward to in the near future. While Microsoft has yet to divulge all its plans for Xbox Game Pass when it comes to the February 2024 additions, it has confirmed that Persona 3 Reload is coming to Game Pass day one on February 2, with Anuchard coming February 6 and PlateUp dropping February 15. Some games will undoubtedly be removed from Xbox Game Pass in February as well, but they have yet to be announced.

Microsoft is expected to pull the curtain back on its Xbox Game Pass February 2024 plans soon. The most likely possibility is that the full rundown will come on Tuesday, February 6, but it's always possible that an announcement will happen before then. Xbox Game Pass subscribers should keep their eyes peeled for more information.
