Xbox Game Pass Just Confirmed One of 2024's Biggest Games as a Day One Release

Following much speculation, one of the biggest games of 2024 has at last been confirmed as a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.

That hasn't been the case this time around, as Microsoft has instead revealed the next batch of titles set to be removed from the service by updating the "Leaving soon" section of the Xbox app on June 2. The newly confirmed departures are High On Life, Bramble: The Mountain King, Rune Factory 4 Special, Spacelines from the Far Out, and The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales. All five will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on June 15.

The silver lining for achievement hunters is that most of these outgoings can be comfortably beaten before that happens. Specifically, obtaining all achievements in Bramble: The Mountain King, The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales and Spacelines from the Far Out is doable in between 16 and 35 hours in total, according to HowLongToBeat data. Meanwhile, a completionist run through the polarizing first-person shooter High On Life is estimated to take upwards of 20 hours. Rune Factory 4 Special is the only game from the newly announced list of departures that's not feasible to beat in its entirety over the following two weeks, unless the player wants to treat it as two full-time jobs starting today.

The three games that Xbox Game Pass has already confirmed for June 2024 will partially offset this next wave of removals. That list comprises Firework and Rolling Hills, which are scheduled to reach the service on June 4, followed by Still Wakes the Deep two weeks later. But Microsoft presumably has many more new releases in store for this month, as the company has yet to officially announce the first monthly wave of Xbox Game Pass additions for June 2024. Based on historical precedent, such an announcement is likely to happen on Tuesday, June 4, when Rolling Hills and Firework make their way to the service.

The next batch of Xbox Game Pass arrivals may face higher-than-usual scrutiny from the fandom, not least because May 2024 ended up being a rare net negative for the service. Specifically, the previous month saw Xbox Game Pass receive only 12 games, while removing 14 others.
