Microsoft has revealed six games that are leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription service at the end of August, with the list of departures including the highly-reviewed Immortality. It's always sad to see games get removed from Xbox Game Pass, which is likely the reason why Microsoft often pairs the announcement with the list of new games that are on their way to the service.

Besides confirming the games that are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31, Microsoft also revealed the games fans can expect to see in the next couple of weeks. This includes Everspace 2, which was added to Xbox Game Pass in the service's latest update, as well as two games that are coming this week and another that's being added at the end of the month. Firewatch is coming to Xbox Game Pass on August 17, while The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is being added on August 18. Sea of Stars will be added on August 29, rounding out the list of new Xbox Game Pass games for August 2023.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be excited to play the new Game Pass games for August 2023, but they may want to prioritize some of the games leaving the service instead. Microsoft has confirmed that Black Desert, Commandos 3 - HD Remaster, Immortality, Nuclear Throne, Surgeon Simulator 2, and Tinykin are all leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31. Of these, the three fans may want to prioritize over the rest are Immortality, Nuclear Throne, and Tinykin. Immortality is one of the highest-rated games on all of Xbox Game Pass, after all.

Immortality is the latest game from Sam Barlow, best known for the acclaimed Her Story. Immortality earned rave reviews at the time of its release thanks to its mind-bending narrative, innovative gameplay mechanics, and disturbing moments that stick with the player long after they've completed the game. It's highly experimental, which makes it the perfect kind of game to check out through Xbox Game Pass.

Nuclear Throne and Tinykin similarly earned high marks from critics, though they aren't as highly-regarded as Immortality. Nuclear Throne is a roguelike shooter game, whereas Tinykin is like a 3D platformer twist on Pikmin. Both games are worth playing, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers should make sure to check them out while they still can.

Those six games are being removed from Xbox Game Pass on August 31, but there are some games getting the boot after today as well. As previously announced, Game Pass is losing four games after August 15, including Death Stranding, Edge of Eternity, Midnight Fight Express, and Total War: Warhammer 3.
