The Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section has updated, revealing eight games that are being removed from the service later this month. This isn't the official announcement for the Xbox Game Pass games leaving in September, though. That will likely be attached to the announcement for new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the second half of September, with said reveal likely coming on Tuesday, September 19.

The most likely scenario is that the new Xbox Game Pass games for the second half of September 2023 will be highlighted on September 19. The announcement will likely include an update on the new Game Pass Ultimate perks and also feature day one game Lies of P, as it's joining the Game Pass lineup on September 19.

Microsoft likes to bundle this good Xbox Game Pass news with the list of games that will be leaving the service, which should make it easier to stomach for any disappointed fan. But while the official announcement has yet to come, the Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section has already been updated. While the exact date for some of these games could wind up being different, it's a safe bet that Beacon Pines, Despot's Game, Last Call BBS, Moonscars, Prodeus, Outriders, Shenzhen I/O, and Weird West will all be leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 30.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers have a couple of weeks to try these games and see if they're worth buying to keep. As usual, Xbox Game Pass games are available at a 20% discount while on the service, so subscribers can at least buy their favorite at a lower price than normal. Of course, there are some games leaving the Xbox Game Pass lineup that subscribers will want to prioritize trying over others.

The highest rated game leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of September 2023 is throwback first-person shooter Prodeus, so fans may want to check that out before the other games. Beacon Pines and Weird West have their fans as well, though the rest of the games leaving Game Pass in September 2023 earned a decidedly more mixed reaction from fans and critics. This includes Outriders, a co-op looter shooter from People Can Fly and Square Enix that was one of the most-hyped day one Game Pass games of 2021. Ultimately, Xbox Game Pass subscribers should have enough time to try all the games leaving Game Pass at the end of September for at least a little bit and can decide if they want to pay extra to keep the games for their libraries.
