Highlights

  • Six games are set to leave Xbox Game Pass on October 15, including Eville, Overwhelm, Shenzhen I/O, The Legend of Tianding, Trek to Yomi, and Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion.
  • Subscribers can take advantage of a 20% discount to purchase these games before they are removed, but they are generally short and received mixed reviews from critics.
  • The exception is The Legend of Tianding, which was well-received upon its release in 2021 and may be worth checking out among the other Game Pass options.

The Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section has confirmed six games that will most likely leave the subscription service on October 15. Generally speaking, games added to the Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section are removed on either the 15th or last day of the month, whichever comes first. There are exceptions to the rule, though, and some games added to the Leaving Soon section aren't removed until a little later on.

For example, Shenzhen I/O was listed as one of the Xbox Game Pass games leaving soon back in September. This led many to believe that Shenzhen I/O would be getting the boot on September 30. However, Shenzhen I/O is still available on Xbox Game Pass as of October 2023. It's now looking like Shenzhen I/O will be leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription service on October 15 instead, alongside five other games.

One of the benefits of Xbox Game Pass is being able to purchase games featured on the service at a 20% discount. This 20% discount applies to the six games leaving Xbox Game Pass on October 15 as well, so subscribers can use the next couple of weeks to try the games and see if there's anything they'd like to buy to keep for their digital libraries. That being said, most of the games leaving Xbox Game Pass this month are relatively short, and so subscribers could potentially complete them before they're removed. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion can be completed in a matter of hours, for example.

It's worth pointing out that not only are most of the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in October 2023 short games, but most of them earned mixed reviews from critics. Considering this, some Xbox Game Pass subscribers may want to skip playing them and instead focus on some of the better Game Pass games currently available. The one exception out of this bunch is The Legend of Tianding, which earned mostly positive reviews from critics at the time of its original release in 2021.
