Microsoft is officially removing five games from its Xbox Game Pass subscription service come May 31, so subscribers may want to give them a look just in case. Xbox Game Pass removes games on a regular basis, with one removal happening on the 15th of every month and the second removal happening on the last day of every month. Xbox isn't moving away from this pattern when it comes to the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in May 2023.

Xbox Game Pass removed five games on May 15, with Before We Leave, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition, Hearts of Iron 4: Cadet Edition, Her Story, and Umurangi Generation Special Edition all getting the boot. While those titles certainly have their fans, Xbox Game Pass luckily didn't lose any of its highest-profile releases with the last batch of removals.

The same can likely be said for the Xbox Game Pass games leaving May 31. That day will be the last day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can try Europa Universalis, Evil Genius 2: World DOmination, FIFA 21, Floppy Knights, and Lawn Mowing Simulator. As always, the games leaving Xbox Game Pass are available at a 20% discount while they are on the service, so subscribers that want to buy any of the games to keep before they're removed have some time to do so.

  • Europa Universalis (PC) - May 31
  • Evil Genius 2: World Domination (Cloud/Consoles/PC) - May 31
  • FIFA 21 (Consoles/PC) - May 31
  • Floppy Knights (Cloud/Consoles/PC) - May 31
  • Lawn Mowing Simulator (Cloud/Consoles/PC) - May 31

Out of all the games leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 31, the one that might sting the most for subscribers is Evil Genius 2: World Domination. After all, Evil Genius 2: World Domination was a day one Xbox Game Pass game when it was first added to the service, and it's always sad to see the day one games go.

On the bright side, the games leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 31 won't be felt across all platforms. Europa Universalis is a PC-only release, so Game Pass subscribers on consoles won't miss it at all. Additionally, FIFA 21 is only available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers since it's technically part of EA Play instead of Game Pass proper, but it's actually being replaced today anyway.

FIFA 23 is coming to Game Pass Ultimate later today, so Game Pass subscribers are unlikely to miss FIFA 21. Regardless, fans should consider checking out these games through Game Pass while they still can.
