Microsoft has issued an update for its Xbox Game Pass subscription service that lets subscribers try out two new games. Xbox Game Pass has been a key component of Microsoft's gaming strategy these last few years, and there's no indication that plans are changing for 2024. In fact, Xbox Game Pass already added two games in January prior to the latest update.

Xbox Game Pass kicked off its January 2024 additions with Close to the Sun on January 3 and multiplayer shooter game Hell Let Loose on January 4. Notably, Hell Let Loose only has a native Xbox Series X version, meaning Game Pass subscribers that have yet to upgrade from their Xbox One were left out. Luckily for Xbox One gamers, the latest Xbox Game Pass additions are readily available to play across Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, the cloud, and PC.

What to Expect From Xbox Game Pass in 2024

2023 was one of the best years for Xbox Game Pass, and based just on its current line-up, 2024 could easily be another great year for the service.

As of January 9, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Figment through their subscription. Assassin's Creed Valhalla was a launch title for the Xbox Series X. It's a gigantic open world viking game that players could easily sink well over 100 hours into if they decide to see everything it has to offer. Figment, meanwhile, is a much smaller-scale game, but one that subscribers shouldn't sleep on. Figment is a musical action-adventure game that first released in 2017 and has earned mostly positive reviews from critics. It can be completed in about five hours or so, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers should have fun with it while it lasts.

New Xbox Game Pass Games for January 2024 List

  • Close to the Sun - January 3
  • Hell Let Loose - January 4
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla - January 9
  • Figment - January 9
  • Super Mega Baseball 4 - January 11 (Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/EA Play only)
  • We Happy Few - January 11
  • Resident Evil 2 - January 16
  • Those Who Remain - January 16
  • Turnip Boy Robs a Bank - January 18
  • Go Mecha Ball - January 25

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has yet to be added to Game Pass at the time of this writing, but it should still be added later in the day on January 9, barring any unforeseen issues.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla isn't the only Assassin's Creed game available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to try out. Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey are both on Xbox Game Pass as well, giving subscribers access to three massive open world adventures. With Ubisoft games regularly being added to Xbox Game Pass, it's entirely possible that even more Assassin's Creed games are on the way, though that remains to be seen.

All Assassin's Creed Games on Xbox Game Pass

  • Assassin's Creed Origins
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Time will tell if more Assassin's Creed games come to Xbox Game Pass or not, but in the meantime, subscribers do know of at least six more games that will be added to the service in January 2024. The next update will take place on January 11, which will see Super Mega Baseball 4 added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and We Happy Few added to all Game Pass tiers. Then, on January 16, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to playing the critically-acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake along with fellow horror game Those Who Remain.

Xbox has yet to officially reveal all the new Game Pass additions for the second half of the month, but previous release date announcements have confirmed Turnip Boy Robs a Bank for January 18 and Go Mecha Ball for January 25. It's entirely possible that there are even more new Xbox Game Pass games coming in January 2024, but fans will have to wait and see.
