Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to play a new indie title, Dungeons of Hinterberg, on day one when the game releases in 2024. Dungeons of Hinterberg was one of the 21 Game Pass titles shown off at Xbox's summer showcase, but fans have been eager to see more of the ambitious action-RPG.
Immediately after the reveal, gamers were drawing comparisons between Dungeons of Hinterberg and Hi-Fi Rush – another stylized Xbox title. However, while the art styles appear similar, the gameplay is quite different. Dungeons of Hinterberg looks to blend the action and social sim genres in this game set in the Alps. The town acts as a sort of home base, and the protagonist's relationship with people in the town directly correlates to events that happen within the titular Dungeons of Hinterberg. The rest of the game, on the other hand, appears to be more of a hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

The Xbox Game Pass indie game got a more than two-minute spotlight in the nearly half-hour-long stream. The gameplay trailer begins with an introduction from two of the game's developers and quickly dives into the social aspects of Dungeons of Hinterberg. The reveal also showcases its exploration and combat elements.

One of the interesting aspects of the game is how relationships within the small town can impact how players tackle the various dungeons. The video ends on a title screen that confirms its 2024 release window along with the logos for Game Pass and the Xbox Series X/S. Dungeons of Hinterberg is an Xbox console exclusive, but the game is also coming to PC next year.
