Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass service adds new content regularly, and while the bulk of it includes games that are already out, it's also known for adding plenty of day one titles as well. In fact, one of the main selling points of Xbox Game Pass is the ability to play brand new, day one games without having to pay more than the price of one's Game Pass subscription, and this week is especially busy for day one Game Pass games.

Microsoft is ending its Xbox Game Pass offerings for October 2021 with a whopping four new day one game releases. First up is indie game Moonglow Bay, which sees players attempt to revitalize a town through its fishing trade. Moonglow Bay reviews have been mostly positive so far, with the game being praised for its relaxing gameplay loop. Xbox Game Pass subscribers across cloud, console, and PC can check it out.

The other three day one Xbox Game Pass games are coming on October 28, headlined by Age of Empires 4. Real-time strategy fans have been waiting for Age of Empires 4 for years, as it's been well over a decade since Age of Empires 3 originally launched. Reception to Age of Empires 4 has been very positive, with critics hailing it as a return to form for the beloved strategy franchise. It will only be available for PC at launch, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers should keep that in mind.

Xbox Game Pass Day One Games October 2021

  • Moonglow Bay (Cloud/Console/PC) - October 26
  • Age of Empires 4 (PC) - October 28
  • Backbone (Console) - October 28
  • Bassmaster Fishing 2022 (Cloud/Console/PC) - October 28

The other two day one Xbox Game Pass games coming on October 28 are Backbone and Bassmaster Fishing 2022. Backbone is a noir adventure game that has been available on PC for some time, but is just now making its Xbox console debut. Bassmaster Fishing 2022, meanwhile, is a professional fishing simulator.

These aren't the only new Xbox Game Pass games being added in the last week of October 2021. These day one games are being joined by Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Nongunz: Doppelganger Edition, and The Forgotten City. The Forgotten City is an especially interesting addition to the Xbox Game Pass lineup as it's earned strong reviews from critics and it's only a few months old at this point.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers can check out all of these games this week. Xbox Game Pass is losing 10 games at the end of the week as well, though, so fans may want to prioritize those over the new additions.
