Microsoft and A44 Games have revealed the release date for Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, an upcoming Soulslike that's set to launch as a day-one Xbox Game Pass game on July 18. So far, 2024 has been a pretty strong year for Microsoft's gaming subscription service in terms of both quality and variety. Fortunately, with major additions like Flintlock releasing in the near future, it looks like the next few months will continue to maintain the momentum that Xbox Game Pass has built up lately.
Created by indie developer A44 Games and published by Kepler Interactive, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn was announced as a day-one Game Pass release in early 2022, alongside a reveal trailer for the title. In the last few years, the developers have shared loads of information on Flintlock in deep-dive gameplay videos and interviews, from the game's inspirations and story details to its unlockable abilities and mission designs. The one thing A44 Games didn't provide any info on, however, was a proper release date for the title. Although Flintlock was initially scheduled to launch the same year it was announced in 2022, the game was hit with delay after delay until, eventually, the developers settled on a release date in 2024. Luckily, it's surprisingly not too far away.
Every Game Pass Game Revealed at the Xbox Showcase
Xbox's 2024 Showcase has just wrapped up, and an impressive total of 18 games were officially confirmed to be coming to Xbox/PC Game Pass.
During the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn received a brief new trailer that gave players a glimpse of the difficult-looking Soulslike RPG's combat elements, in addition to providing a release date of July 18, 2024 for the game. An official Xbox Wire blog post had some more information to share about the upcoming title, as it revealed that pre-orders for Flintlock are currently available on all platforms at the price of $39.99, a considerably lower cost than most brand-new AAA releases. Gamers who are willing to spend a bit more money can also purchase a deluxe edition of Flintlock that "offers alternative outfits and weapon customization" for only $5 more.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is One of the Biggest Day-One Additions to Game Pass in June 2024
As stated in the description provided by Microsoft, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn takes place in the setting of Kian, an endangered fantasy world where monstrous gods run rampant and unleash armies of dead upon humanity. Gamers play as "a Flintlock weapons expert" named Nor Vanek who's on a quest to kill gods and other enemies in order to take back her world. The self-proclaimed "Souls-lite" combines gunplay, melee combat, and magic abilities to create a diverse combat system that centers around unleashing "devastating combos," akin to action games like God of War.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn isn't the only big day-one addition to Game Pass next month, as the new Capcom game Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is coming to Microsoft's subscription service on July 19, 2024. Funnily enough, that's only a day after the release of A44 Games' upcoming Soulslike. Those who aren't interested in either of these two titles, however, have plenty of other Xbox Game Pass games to look forward to, as the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase just indicated.
