Microsoft has confirmed six games that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play in the first half of August 2023. The beginning of every month is an exciting time for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, as Microsoft almost always kicks off each month with a big Game Pass announcement.
Since it's now August 1, Microsoft has wasted no time making its Xbox Game Pass announcement. While some fans may be disappointed that there are no day one games coming to Xbox Game Pass in the first half of August 2023, the service is still getting some solid for subscribers to check out.
Xbox Game Pass is getting things started for August 2023 with the addition of Celeste, available starting today across the cloud, consoles, and PC. Then on August 3, Game Pass subscribers can look forward to A Short Hike, while Broforce Forever drops on August 8. Limbo will hit on August 9, and Airborne Kingdom will follow on August 10. Finally, Everspace 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass through the cloud and Xbox Series X/S consoles on August 15 to wrap up the new games for the first half of August 2023.

For those unfamiliar with the games, Celeste is a critically-acclaimed 2D platformer, while A Short Hike is a cozy game that is kind of like if Super Mario 64-style collect-a-thon gameplay mixed with an Animal Crossing aesthetic. Broforce Forever is a run-and-gun 2D side-scroller, and Limbo is a 2D puzzle platformer known for its black-and-white art style and gruesome deaths. Airborne Kingdom is a city management game, and finally, Everspace 2 is a space combat game. Everspace 2 was previously available on PC Game Pass, but it's just now coming to the cloud and Xbox consoles.
While these six games are the titles Microsoft chose to highlight with its new Game Pass games for August 2023 announcement, previously reveals have clued fans in a couple of the Game Pass titles coming in the second half of August 2023. This includes The Texas Chain Saw Massacre multiplayer horror game on August 18 as well as throwback RPG Sea of Stars on August 29. Other titles will undoubtedly join those games, but Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have to wait until the middle of the month for the August 2023 Wave 2 announcement.
