Microsoft has updated the Xbox Game Pass subscription service to add three new games to the lineup, including a day one release. Xbox Game Pass subscribers already knew of at least one game that was going to be added to the service today, but others may be surprised by the other two titles that have been added to the mix.
When Microsoft first made the announcement about the new Xbox Game Pass games coming to the service in the first half of July 2023, it made sure to mention that one such game was the early accession version of Techtonica. Techtonica is a unique factory building game where players collect resources on a strange alien planet. Techtonica also has co-op support, so Xbox Game Pass subscribers can check it out with a friend.
Techtonica's status as a day one Xbox Game Pass game makes it an especially exciting new addition to the lineup, but it's not the only game that's been added with the latest update to the subscription service. Xbox Game Pass subscribers across the cloud, consoles, and PC can also check out Toem, a photography game where players explore a hand-drawn black-and-white world that earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release. 2013 adventure game The Cave, from the mind of Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert, is also available now on the cloud and Xbox consoles.

Out of all the new Xbox Game Pass games added with the July 18 update, Techtonica will likely draw the most attention from subscribers. While Toem and The Cave have their fans, Techtonica stands out because of its co-op support and the fact that it's a day one game. Day one games are the main reason why many fans sign up for Xbox Game Pass, as if one plays enough day one games on the service, it basically pays for itself.
There are many more day one Xbox Game Pass games to look forward to in the months ahead. The biggest ones are Starfield in September and Forza Motorsport in October. Starfield is the first new single-player Bethesda game since 2015, while Forza Motorsport is the next installment in the acclaimed Xbox console-exclusive racing game franchise. But while Starfield's official release date is September 6, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play it as early as August 31 in some regions if they are willing to pay a bit extra for the Premium Edition Upgrade.
