Highlights

  • Xbox Game Pass adds the original Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, a touching narrative adventure worth playing for both newcomers and fans.
  • The May lineup includes exciting titles like Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Senua's Saga, and there are many more games to come this year.

Xbox Game Pass has added Starbreeze Studios' original classic narrative adventure game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, to the subscription service. Known for being an incredibly touching story with a unique gameplay mechanic, the addition of Brothers to Xbox Game Pass is an ideal opportunity for gamers to check it out if they missed it when it first launched in 2013.

There have been rumors that Xbox Game Pass may be getting another price increase, after already receiving a $2 price hike in July 2023. Despite that, many gamers may still find Microsoft’s gaming subscription service to be a pretty good investment. For $9.99, users can access the lowest tier, Game Pass Core, which offers a catalog of at least 25 games that’s swapped out a couple of times per year. There has also been speculation that Microsoft intends to offer an ad-based version of Game Pass sometime in the future, which may make the service accessible for those who can’t or won’t pay for it.

In February 2024, a remake of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons developed by Avantgarden was released. It rebuilt the first game from the bottom up, improving graphics to an impressive degree. There’s a drastically increased level of detail, from hair to cloth to metal, and a greater field of view so that players can fully appreciate the changes. There have also been cutscenes added, a few new secrets to uncover, and a re-recorded soundtrack to augment the whole experience. However, the original game is still just as immersive and engaging as ever, so those who haven't picked up the remake will still enjoy playing the classic release via Xbox Game Pass.

But it’s only the middle of the month, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have a few more games to look forward to in May. Little Kitty, Big City by Double Dagger Studio, released on May 9, unleashes an adorable black cat upon a vast, open-world metropolis. Most anticipated is probably Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 by Ninja Theory, which was first revealed in 2019 and will finally be launching day one on Game Pass on May 21, and perhaps lesser known but equally as exciting are Galacticare, Hauntii, and the puzzle game Humanity to close out the month for subscribers.
