Microsoft has confirmed three free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to claim in March 2023 instead of the usual two. Xbox Live Gold subscribers are typically treated to two free games each month, with one title made available at the beginning of the month and another added in the middle. The game added in the middle actually remains free until halfway through the following month, meaning Xbox Live Gold subscribers will technically have four games available to them in March.
The Xbox free Games with Gold games for February 2023 are For the King and Guts 'n Goals. Today is the last day for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to claim For the King, but they have until March 15 to grab Guts 'n Goals. Two other games will also be available for free while Guts 'n Goals remains part of the service, with Xbox Live Gold subscribers able to claim two more free games starting March 1.
From March 1 to March 31, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can grab Truberbrook and Sudden Strike 4: Complete Collection. Truberbrook is a first-person adventure game that's notable for its stunning graphics, though reviews were less than complementary when it came to its actual gameplay and puzzles. Sudden Strike 4, meanwhile, is a World War 2-themed RTS that was received slightly more favorably than Truberbrook, but also earned mostly negative reviews from critics. From March 16 to April 15, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will get to claim Lamentum, a horror game inspired by classic 90s titles that is the best-reviewed of the bunch but still didn't generate particularly high scores.

Considering the fact that all three games set to be free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in March 2023 were not well-received, it's likely that fans aren't going to be happy with this lineup. Xbox Live users being unhappy with the free games is nothing new, though, and at this point, it may be safe to say that the vast majority of Xbox gamers have given up on the program.
While Microsoft used to put a lot of effort into the free Games with Gold games each month, it's clearly moving on from the service so it can focus its attention on Xbox Game Pass. There are plenty of exciting new Xbox Game Pass games for March 2023 for fans to look forward to, so those underwhelmed by the Games with Gold games may want to give them a look instead.
