Microsoft has announced the free Xbox Games with Gold for March 2020. As always, Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have the chance to add four new games to their library for the month of March, including two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 games.
On the Xbox One side of things, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can claim Batman: The Enemy Within from Telltale Games. Batman: The Enemy Within is a sequel to 2016's Batman: The Telltale Series, and its inclusion on the Games with Gold lineup is fitting since the January 2020 Free Games with Gold included the original. This way, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can experience the entire Batman story from Telltale. Batman: The Enemy Within will be available to download for Xbox Live Gold subscribers from March 1 to March 31.
The other free Xbox One game for March 2020 is Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, the fourth game in the Shantae platforming series. Shantae will be available as a free download from March 16 to April 15 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.
On the Xbox 360 side of things, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can claim Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 from March 1 to March 15. Then from March 16 to March 31, fans can download Sonic Generations, one of the better-received modern Sonic games. Considering the recent success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it's fitting that Microsoft is giving away Sonic Generations as one of the free Games with Gold for March 2020.
In the meantime, Xbox Live Gold subscribers still have some time to download the free Games with Gold for February 2020. They include the first-person horror game Call of Cthulhu as well as Star Wars Battlefront for the original Xbox. Fans only have until February 29 to claim Star Wars Battlefront, but Call of Cthulhu will be available to claim until March 15.
It will be interesting to see how the free Xbox Games with Gold program evolves as we move into the next-generation of video game consoles. One has to imagine that the free Xbox 360 games will be phased out in favor of Xbox Series X titles, and it's also possible that the Xbox Game Pass program will lessen Microsoft's focus on Games with Gold. In the meantime, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can count on two free Xbox One titles and two free Xbox 360 games for the foreseeable future.
