The Xbox-exclusive survival horror game Scorn may be making its way to PlayStation 5 soon, if clues that have recently cropped up online are anything to go by. Released in October 2022, the visual style of Scorn was inspired by the work of artist H.R. Giger and, as such, the game features a compelling and dark aesthetic. This appealed to a lot gamers but repelled nearly just as many, resulting in Scorn getting generally mixed reviews when it launched. In fact, Scorn is one of the few Xbox exclusive games to be review bombed, primarily because the game that people expected — an action-packed first-person shooter set on a creepy alien world — did not match what players actually got. Instead, developer Ebb Software released a somewhat slow-paced exploration game, with puzzles and mysterious lore but relatively little shooting. In fact, many reviewers found the gunplay to be one of the weakest elements of the game, while the graphics and intriguing setting received ample praise.RELATED: Bizarre Winnie the Pooh Body Horror Game is in DevelopmentIn a series of cryptic posts, the official Scorn Twitter account has begun hinting that the Xbox-exclusive body horror title may be coming to PS5, and an announcement is expected soon. There have been three tweets so far, each containing a riddle that bright minds on social media were quick to solve.

The first — “three edges meet, they intertwine” — seems to hint at a triangle. The second is a video of the game’s startup screen with Morse code playing on top, which has been translated to mean a circle. The third clue states, “I am a variable, mysterious, and unknown, I leave my mark, a treasure shown,” and clearly refers to an X. A fourth tweet, which will probably be a square, hasn’t been posted at the time of writing.

Scorn was originally announced in 2014, and it was revealed in 2020 to be a timed Xbox Series X/S console exclusive. However, it was never shared how long that exclusivity would last, though if the tweets are anything to go by, PlayStation 5 owners may be able to enjoy the game soon, perhaps at the one-year mark in October. While the gameplay may not appeal to some people, the visceral body horror of Scorn combined with its detailed, though enigmatic, lore will likely draw in many players on PS5, giving the game a chance to grow its fan base further.

Despite the mixed reception, many people were drawn into the mysterious world of Scorn and are hoping for an eventual sequel. Ebb Software spent the months following the launch of Scorn to release a series of updates addressing several player complaints, such as relocating the sometimes punishing checkpoints, fixing bugs, and making a few quality-of-life tweaks.

Scorn is currently available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
