Tango Gameworks’ highly rated action rhythm game Hi-Fi Rush has been rated for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One in Australia. At the beginning of the year, the Nate the Hate podcast hinted that one of Xbox’s 2023 Game of the Year contenders would soon be seeing a cross-platform release, and those rumors about the critically acclaimed Hi-Fi Rush coming to other platforms seem to have turned out to be true.

The game, which won multiple awards in 2023, including two for audio design, shadow dropped in January 2023 during the Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct. The surprise release was an instant hit, and Hi-Fi Rush finished the year among the best Xbox Game Pass titles in 2023. Not only was the game a success out of the gate, but it was also a striking departure for Tango Gameworks, which had previously made a name for itself with The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2, and 2022’s Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Tango Gameworks' surprise hit Hi-Fi Rush provides endgame content that gives plenty of reasons to keep going long after the credits roll.

Now, it seems that gamers will soon be able to enjoy the unique and fun-filled experience that Hi-Fi Rush offers on other platforms. The Australian Classification board has given the game an M rating for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. This may come as a surprise for many people, who believed the game to be a permanent Xbox console exclusive, launching as it did on day one on Xbox Game Pass.

Which Consoles Has Hi-Fi Rush Been Rated For?

  • Nintendo Switch
  • PlayStation 4
  • Xbox One

It’s also worth noting that there is no mention of PS5 in the rating description. Hi-Fi Rush greatly benefits from having controller vibration turned on, as along with the game's visual and audio cues, it helps players literally feel the beat that’s so necessary in successfully pulling off combos. So it would be interesting to see how that innovation could be implemented using the PS5 DualSense controller’s unique haptic features.

As yet, there’s been no official confirmation that the game will be coming to the aforementioned consoles, and there has been no hint of a possible release date. However, if Hi-Fi Rush’s Xbox Series console exclusivity was only for one year, the game launched on January 25, a date that is quickly approaching. So, many people are anticipating an announcement in the very near future, with the cross-platform launch following soon after.

Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks deciding to shadow drop Hi-Fi Rush was a nice change from the industry standard of announcing games sometimes several years in advance, leaving gamers waiting for what can seem to be an unbearably long time. The move was so well received, in fact, that there are rumors that another game may be shadow dropped during the 2024 Xbox Developer Direct as well. Whether it will be a major hit like Hi-Fi Rush of course remains to be seen.
