Walmart is currently offering a great deal on Xbox controllers. Even if one does their best to take care of them, they don't last forever. It's also a good idea to pick up an extra one (or two) to play some of the great multiplayer games on the Xbox platform. Gaming is even more fun with friends and family, but this fun can be ruined when an old and worn out controller affects the experience. Some games are harder on controllers than others, and an experienced gamer might even be able to tell what kind of games a controller has primarily been used for just by checking which buttons and triggers are worn out. For example, Xbox players with a penchant for Soulslikes would probably wear out the buttons commonly mapped for the roll, block, and attack functions faster, while leaving some of the others as clicky and responsive as new. The analog sticks generally take a beating no matter what kind of game is being played, and there are few things more frustrating than falling to one's death or stepping out of cover inadvertently in a game because of a poorly responding controller.RELATED: Sony Says Xbox's Call of Duty Offer Would 'Irreparably Harm Competition'Walmart has marked down the Carbon Black Xbox Wireless Controller from $59.99 to $39.99. This is a fantastic deal, since it is what one might usually pay for an off-brand controller. The Pulse Red and Robot White models have also been discounted at $44.49 and $46.00 respectively. This includes free shipping and 30-day returns. The $20.00 saved could be used for a month or two of Game Pass to access to a burgeoning library of games. The most frugal gamer might even be tempted to double down at these prices, so act fast since Walmart could run out of stock at any time.

Even for those don't own an Xbox this is an attractive deal. Game Pass always has a swathe of great games to play, and there won't be any compatibility issues using the official controller; using an aftermarket controller with PC Game Pass sometimes requires additional software and some tweaking before it will work properly.

Unfortunately the recently revealed Velocity Green Xbox controller isn't on Walmart's shelves just yet, but it likely wouldn't be discounted if it was. Other color variants like Mineral Camo, Electric Volt, and Shock Blue are still being sold at full price. With that said, a deal like this is hard to ignore, especially if one is playing with aging controllers that don't respond the way they used to.
