One of the perks of the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles is their ability to play old-school Xbox 360 and original Xbox games. Microsoft has provided itself on Xbox's backward compatibility and how it's not only given gamers access to classic games, but has enhanced them through things like FPS Boost and the like. Now a new Back Compat sale is giving Xbox gamers the chance to get their hands on some of the best original Xbox and Xbox 360 games at a significant discount.

The Back Compat Sale is live for Xbox owners on the Microsoft Store and will last until next week. It features a wide range of games, with Microsoft selecting six titles in particular as the headliners. The original Red Dead Redemption game on Xbox 360 is available for $9.89, while FEAR 2: Project Origin can be snagged for $4.99. The original Skate game is $5.99, while Splinter Cell: Double Agent is available for $5.99. The original Max Payne game is being sold for $8.99, and finally, TimeSplitters 2, the critically-acclaimed first-person shooter from the original Xbox, can be purchased for a mere $2.49.

This is quite the lineup for Xbox fans that want to take a stroll down memory lane. A couple of the original Xbox games on offer include Red Dead Revolver, the precursor to the Red Dead Redemption series, as well as the 3D platformer/action-adventure game Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy.

There's a much larger selection for those more interested in Xbox 360 games to check out, including the original BioShock as well as the original Prey. For those unfamiliar with the original Prey game, it first released in 2006 and is quite different from the Prey reboot that was released by Arkane Studios and Bethesda. This version of Prey has a gimmick focused on traversing the game world using portals, and it stars a Native American protagonist named Domasi "Tommy" Tawodi who finds himself fighting alien creatures aboard a spaceship.

These games will almost certainly go on sale again at some point down the line, but these prices may be hard to beat. Those who want to bolster their collection of classic Xbox and Xbox 360 games should definitely take advantage of these deals while they still can.
