The Marvel's Spider-Man series has featured some deep cuts from the titular character's rogues gallery, but the next game can go even deeper.

DeMayo would break his silence after X-Men ‘97’s fifth episode, and he’s been giving fans a lot to think about since. Most recently, he sent out a multitude of tweets concerning the show’s eighth episode and the big events that transpired in it. After sending out a tweet in advance urging fans to revisit the OG series episode “One Man’s Worth,” DeMayo would proceed to put out a few more after the episode’s release, pointing out several interesting facts and revealing things that fans might have missed on their first watch through. These details include several interesting ones, including several payoffs to the visions seen by Madeline Pryor earlier in the series and the source for one of the more interesting cameos shown during the lights-out sequence.

X-Men ‘97’s episode eight plot was one that was certain to get the fans going, as so many cogs were set in motion in rapid succession that fans have to wonder if it’s even possible to end the season off on a satisfying note. With the return of Charles Xavier and the potential return of the villainous incarnation of Magneto following the escalation in serious threats to mutants, there’s a lot to think about, and the fallout certainly seems certain to spill into a new season. This isn’t such bad news, as the show already has a second season in production and a third in development and will certainly get back to fans sooner rather than later.

The success of the series has done a lot for the fan discourse around the X-Men as their MCU debut teeters ever closer, amongst other things. Elsewhere, this success has also brought attention to the fact that there are other animated shows that deserve an X-Men ''97-style revival, with seemingly no one taking the plunge with many of them. Fans will have to wait and see if a faithful and well-handled revival like this one can stand up to brand-new ideas from competitors, such as the Creature Commandos, remains to be seen.

X-Men ‘97 is currently available to stream on DIsney+.
