Wytchwood is a fairytale world filled with dangers. Players will have to trap, trick, and scare aggressive critters out in the world in order to not only survive their attacks but also to collect pieces of them for spells and regents. Early in the 10-hour playtime of Wytchwood, players will come across one such creature called the Dryad.

Dryads in Wytchwood

In the Forest location of Wytchwood, players will find some Dryads. These giant, tree-like monsters not only guard the Fairy stones that players need to topple in order to complete the Snake chapter, but they also have one-of-a-kind fruits that the witch will need for future spells. Like all the other aggressive critters in the game, they have a weakness that the witch can find by using the Witch's Sight. The Dryad's weakness is something called a Cinderbox.

The recipe for Cinderboxes contains Embers, which are found in Ash Piles, Fireflies, which are found in the two Fairy glens located in the Forest, and something called Rodent Lard. Players might assume that the only way to get Rodent Lard would be from Wytchwood rats in the Graveyard, but players won't have access to the Graveyard the first time they need this item.

How to Get Rodent Lard in Wytchwood

Rodent Lard comes from squirrels in Wytchwood. In order to learn how to catch a squirrel, players just need to look at one through the Witch's Sight. It will show that their weakness is a spring trap, which is made with twine, branches, and an impeye nut. Each of these things can be found around the Forest biome and then combined together like crafting in Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

  • Reedy Twine comes from the reeds that grow around water in both the Forest and by the witch's home. Clip it with the shears.
  • Twigs can be picked up from the ground and also can be taken from Rotten Logs on the ground with the ax as well.
  • Impeye Nuts are found all over the forest floor and also in Rotten Logs.

Combine one Reedy Twine and 2 Twigs to make a Wickerwork, then use one Wickerwork and an Impeye Nut to make a Snap Trap. Lay the trap on the ground near a squirrel, then step away from the trap and wait for the squirrel to hop into it. Every trapped squirrel will give players two to three Meaty Morsels and one Rodent Lard to use in future spells. Meaty Morsels are also needed to help get dog's hair for lighting the braziers in Wytchwood.

Wytchwood is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
