Around the time of its release, WWE 2K22 showcased a massive roster of DLC characters. Legends such as Rob Van Dam and even guest appearances from characters like Machine Gun Kelly are included in this line-up. However, it appears the inclusion of one DLC character could be questionable, as the superstar has now been released by the WWE.

Nash Carter was to be included in WWE 2K22’s DLC Stand Back Pack, alongside other characters like MGK. Carter was released on Wednesday after his wife and fellow wrestler, Kimber Lee, posted an image on Twitter showing a bruised face. Lee has claimed that Carter had been drinking and “got wasted and hit [her] so hard he split [her] lip open.”

The allegations do not end there. Lee also shared an image of Carter making a Nazi salute after a shave, presumably intentionally, resembling Adolf Hitler’s mustache. Carter constantly made “anti-LGBTQIA+ statements,” according to Lee. As of this writing, neither WWE nor 2K Sports have commented on Carter’s release and if this will impact his inclusion as DLC. Presumably, he will either be removed or replaced pending some form of investigation, since this differs from most recent WWE releases.

It’s understandable to have questions about this release, still. Wes Lee and Carter were the NXT Tag Team champions at the time, so the fate of those belts is up in the air. It should be noted that Wes Lee’s wife, Queen E. Marie, has spoken against some of these allegations, stating that Carter had been living with her and Lee and that Carter had served Lee divorce papers on Monday. Overall, it is a developing situation, and it remains to be seen what comes of it exactly.

While this is under investigation, Carter’s release from WWE makes sense. There certainly have been questionable WWE releases lately, as superstars are released seemingly without reason and even some have moved to AEW. This made certain characters or the lack thereof in WWE 2K22 awkward, especially on the assumption that they may appear in the upcoming AEW game.

Carter was also set to debut as WWE 2K22 DLC in June, and while it would be simple and understandable enough to drop him should this situation not change, some players will want someone to replace him. A lot of it probably depends on the ongoing developments, and last-minute changes may not be easy. For now, fans of both the wrestling company, as well as WWE 2K22, will simply need to wait and see how this is all resolved.

WWE 2K22 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
