It's a strange time as the wrestling world adapts to a new social distancing setting. Now, more than ever before, WWE is having to shake up the current product given the circumstances and sometimes they can be doozies.

The most recent announcement of upping the ante in a fanless setting is for the upcoming Money in the Bank Event. Announced via the WWE official website, the traditional 6 man ladder match is expanding beyond the confines of the ring and taking place over the entire WWE Headquarters. As the tagline on the WWE Social Media accounts put it, the stars will be "Climbing the Corporate Ladder."

According to the blurb on the official announcement page, this means the wrestlers are going to be going higher than ever before. Starting from the ground floor of the Connecticut-based headquarters, competitors must make their way up to the roof where the Money in the Bank briefcase awaits. The prize for the winner is a considerable push with a guaranteed chance at a WWE Title, at the winner's choice of time and place.

It has been a tumultuous time to say the least for the WWE. Since March, the company has been dealing with numerous fallouts concerning the coronavirus as it tries to keep on with business as usual. This awkward time has WWE changing its presentation by filming new episodes of RAW and Smackdown from the Florida based Performance Center with no fans in attendance. This is the same location where this year's Wrestlemania 36 was filmed within an empty arena.

This recent announcement comes just days following the mass release of over a dozen wrestlers. It is likely the timing of this announcement is to divert the news cycle from focusing on the bad press by adding another over-the-top stipulation to keep interest.

Money in the Bank will be live-streamed on the WWE Network on May 10 at 7pm EST.
