A WWE 2K24 player recently recreated the legendary Sabu using the game’s character creation suite, but the superstar himself seems less than thrilled at the result. Sabu was a pioneering member of the original Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, impressing fans with a hardcore style that blended high-flying acrobatics with the brutal use of weapons like steel chairs. He has appeared in numerous wrestling video games over the years, such as ECW Hardcore Revolution, the Legends of Wrestling series, and Backyard Wrestling: Don’t Try This At Home.

Sabu’s only official appearance in a WWE game to date was in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, which was released during the tail end of his short stint in WWE as part of its rebooted ECW brand. This hasn’t stopped fans of the old ECW from recreating Sabu in later installments like WWE 2K24 using character creation tools.

WWE 2K24 Features AEW Star's Entrance

WWE 2K24 fans discover an AEW star's iconic entrance available for use in the game, fueling questions about the wrestler signing to WWE.

Earlier this week, a Twitter user by the handle of KRadiation posted screenshots of their custom WWE 2K24 Sabu model, earning compliments from their fellow gamers for capturing the ECW legend’s physical likeness and colorful in-ring attire. However, Sabu himself had less-than-positive things to say when he saw it, telling KRadiation that their digital version needed to "send this Sabu to the gym and tailor." Other Twitter users came to KRadiation’s defense, while others gave Sabu the benefit of the doubt and thought that his harsh words might have meant to be tongue-in-cheek.

Sabu Reacts to WWE 2K24 CAW

KRadiation seems to somewhat agree with Sabu’s criticisms of their custom WWE 2K24 character model though, as they later posted an updated version with a bulkier build and different pants. Sabu was more welcoming of this new take, though he still thinks that the pants need work. Unfortunately, WWE 2K24 seems to lack a pants option that correctly matches Sabu’s old ECW look, at least according to a response from KRadiation.

WWE 2K24’s creation tools offer a wide range of flexibility for fans looking to recreate any classic wrestlers, championship belts, and even hilarious internet memes that didn’t make it into the game proper, and this is evident in the massive Community Creation page that has already been built less than a week after the game launched. However, while some are impressed with the level of detail these fans bring to their WWE 2K24 creations, there are always critics to be found in the most unlikely of places.
