While publisher 2K and developer Visual Concepts have yet to announce the next entry in the WWE 2K franchise, it's a good bet that WWE 2K24 is currently in development. The series has seen a successful stride in WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K23 after the disastrous launch in WWE 2K20, but player expectations have been made clear too. With each new release, fans expect core gameplay improvements, better match types, the usual Showcase Mode like John Cena's in WWE 2K23, general quality of life improvements across the board, and so forth. This includes WWE 2K24's presumed MyGM Mode building on what came before.

WWE 2K23's MyGM Mode is a ton of fun, as players compete against friends or CPUs to be the best-rated brand. Players are able to draft their favorite stars, tell stories in their own heads, and feel like they are managing everything in a run-up to WrestleMania, and then everything resets. The sheer fun factor may be enough to drive WWE 2K23 fans through multiple seasons, but if WWE 2K24 is going to innovate, it may want to look at each season players go through. In fact, a "scenarios" feature would go a long way in ensuring that WWE 2K24's MyGM Mode could be one of the best yet.

Scenarios Would Give WWE 2K24's MyGM Mode More Variety

As an example, The Sims 4 features various scenarios players can go through. Befitting its zany nature, this can include things like earning enough simoleons to get the avatar's parents back from some aliens, tackling the parenting problems of two sims with unruly children, or taking on the role of a power couple racing to become CEOs. While there are plenty more than that, it ensures that players have something new to do in these playthroughs, with many of them having multiple story endings. Translated to WWE 2K24, players could tackle a new "scenario" with perhaps each season or overall run of WWE 2K24's MyGM Mode.

The management foundation of WWE 2K24's MyGM Mode is sound enough to support this, while it could let players tell better stories. Perhaps it could even ensure better ratings when a pairing fits the ongoing scenario, freeing players somewhat from the dichotomy of Bruiser vs. Fighter, Cruiser vs. Giant, and so forth. It could really elevate the storytelling of WWE 2K24's MyGM Mode, giving players a more detailed "Creative" role too. Some scenarios may impose restrictions, like the number of possible brands, but sometimes working with restrictions is the best way to force creativity. Some possible examples include...

  • Brand Warfare Scenario
    • Drawing from the past, this scenario could see every hosted PLE of the season have at least one match where each brand puts in its own stars. Each brand could put X members of their roster into the Royal Rumble, the Elimination Chamber, and so forth.
    • The goal is to win a Unified Belt at the end by being one of the top two brands.
  • Dominant Faction Scenario
    • Players create "factions," either their own or using pre-sets like LWO, Judgment Day, or the Bloodline, and compete with the other brands on a show level to be the most dominant brand and faction in WWE. There could be special cards tied to this, special promos, or in the best of factions, fun breakups that help drive the matchmaking of the season.
    • The end goal could be as simple as the faction dominating the Slammy Awards and so forth.
  • Universal Champion Scenario
    • In honor of Roman Reigns (and other champions), players may have to do everything they can to ensure their champion sits at the top longer than the other brands, with special cards being used to protect the champion, to take out opposing champions, and so forth. Done correctly, it could also be used to demonstrate and push fighting champions like current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins or more prestige champions like Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
    • The end goal could be to begin and end the season with the same dominant champion, but forcing players to get creative in their title defenses (that have to be booked for PLEs).

  • Royal Family Scenario
    • Some scenarios could give bonuses for the use of certain royal families in WWE. It might be similar to the Dominant Factions idea, but if players are bending time anyway, having a brand run by members of the Rhodes Family (even using Cody and Stardust at the same time), the Mysterio and Guerrero families, the Anoa'i family, and so forth. Using them could perhaps have buffs to ratings, unique family rivalry stories, and so forth - all from the management aspect of WWE 2K24.
    • The end goal could be to have more championship runs in the designated brand family instead of the others.
  • Supernatural Scenario
    • All draft picks could come from the "supernatural" side of the WWE, letting players simulate things like Buried Alive matches.
    • The end goal could be something fun and unrealistic, such as "ending" the supernatural threat or taking over the WWE.
  • "Finishing the Story" Scenario
    • Pulling from Cody Rhodes' return to WWE, perhaps players begin with a character "returning" at the Royal Rumble and must especially manage their career as they aim to become the Universal Champion, facing down the drama of the Bloodline from show to show as well.
    • The end goal would be winning, against all odds, at WrestleMania and not a PLE before.
  • Wrestling GM Scenario
    • Throughout WWE history, there have been plenty of times when GMs have been more hands-on than just a simple interference. Perhaps the GMs aren't just competing for shows, but to earn the heart of someone like Stephanie McMahon, to leverage a special star against the whole network (like Teddy Long's one-on-one with the Undertaker), or simply to be in the ring.
    • There could be special crossover matches against each GM.
    • The end goal could be for the player GM's popularity to be the highest in the eyes of the roster and of WWE fans.

There's plenty of potential for single-star scenarios, group scenarios, or GM-specific scenarios that could make this a lot of fun. Just as WWE 2K23's MyRise mode introduced The Lock and The Legacy (with WWE 2K24's MyRise mode likely having new stories), these could be simulated with "lock" characters or modern vs. legend scenarios. Some could even be pulled straight from this history of the gaming franchise or from the WWE, but what WWE 2K24 ultimately does with MyGM Mode remains to be seen.

WWE 2K24 has not been confirmed.
