Since the game's release, WWE 2K23 players haven't been shy about putting create-a-wrestler to work recreating some of the most popular names outside WWE to play as, with one player taking it upon themselves to create lucha libre sensation Komander ahead of his upcoming dream match over Wrestlemania 39 weekend. The young luchador has been making waves all over the wrestling world, recently making his national TV debut on AEW Dynamite as part of the Face of the Revolution ladder match. With his inclusion in the game thanks to its CAW tools, players can now match him up against some of the best luchadors under WWE's umbrella such as Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar.WWE 2K23 features another expansive create-a-wrestler toolkit, giving players everything they need to bring other wrestlers not in the game or their own wild, original creations to life. Komander is just one of many non-WWE wrestlers created in the game, with other names including Jonathan Gresham, Athena, and Jon Moxley available to download from the game's community creations tab. Beyond the wrestlers, some players have also been busy creating other promotions' championships and arenas in the game to live out their fantasies of wrestling or booking for their favorite promotions.The custom Komander creation comes from Twitter user Grizzly_Shark, who shared the creation online ahead of Komander's match at Ring of Honor's Supercard of Honor show on Friday, March 31. Grizzly_Shark said they tried to replicate the gear Komander wore for his AEW appearance but was unable to nail down the right shade of yellow to match up with his gear from the show. That said, the red gear Shark ultimately settled on still does justice to the red gear Komander has been seen wearing at big shows for promotions GCW, MLW, and others.
Grizzly_Shark couldn't have shared their finished take on Komander at a better time, either, as his match at Supercard has already generated massive buzz online because he is set to face off with fellow Lucha Libre sensation - El Hijo Del Vikingo. Vikingo is, at the time of writing, the AAA Mega Champion and has been on a tour of the US, working some of the biggest independent promotions across the country. Vikingo made his national TV debut for AEW, as well, recently facing Kenny Omega in a dream match originally set to take place at AAA Triplemania in December 2021 before being pushed back due to Omega taking time off to heal from multiple injuries.
Given the buzz around Komander and Vikingo's upcoming match, it wouldn't be surprising to see some players simulate the match in WWE 2K23 as Grizzly_Shark has also created a CAW version of Vikingo to download. It doesn't end there, either, as there are plenty of wrestlers from AEW, WCW, New Japan, and other promotions already available under community creations in the short time the game has been available. Depending on how things play out in Ring of Honor, some of those matches players simulate between Komander and AEW stars could be a prelude to things to come in real life.
