Brock Lesnar and John Cena have squared off a few times over the years, but it was perhaps their showdown at SummerSlam 2014 that was the most iconic. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to sports entertainment fans to learn that this is the first of two matches between the pair to feature in WWE 2K23's Showcase Mode, which this year focuses on some of John Cena's most memorable matches. Suplex - Rinse - Repeat serves as the eleventh match in Showcase Mode and ends up being one of the most challenging.

This is because WWE 2K23 players will need to land no fewer than 15 German Suplexes throughout the course of the match, which also features 12 different objectives. It's well worth the effort though, as with six unlockables, it's one of the most rewarding matches in Showcase Mode. In addition to the Brock Lesnar '14 and John Cena '14 unlockable Superstars, players will also get Paul Heyman's SummerSlam 2014 Attire and the 2014 SummerSlam Arena as well as the WWE and WWE World Heavyweight Championships.

Brock wanted to maul me right away, unleashing a vicious Heavy Combo in the ring!

Perform any Heavy Combo while in the ring. To check Brock Lesnar's moves, players can pause the game and head to the COMBOS menu.

Brock backed me up into the corner, attempting a Front Corner Attack to dish out more punishment!

Throw Cena into the corner using an Irish Whip and then hit him with either a light or heavy attack (Square or X on PlayStation or X or A on Xbox).

He also connected with 8 German Suplexes while we were in the ring, the first leg of our trip to Suplex City!

To complete this objective, players will need to perform eight German Suplexes. As two of three options require players to perform a back grapple, the most efficient way to complete the objective is by grabbing Cena while facing him and then pressing X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) while holding the left analog stick to the left.

Brock's plan was simple: Damage me in any way that he could!

Deal enough damage to fill the meter.

Thankfully Brock changed tactics. Unfortunately it just meant that he was going to stretch me with a Submission Hold in the ring instead!

While inside the ring, hold either the R2 (PlayStation) or RT (Xbox) button and then press Circle (PlayStation) or B (Xbox) to perform any basic submission move. This can be done while Cena is down or standing in the ring.

I was groggy, and Brock took advantage by going for a Rear Heavy Grapple in the ring!

With Cena standing in the ring, flick the right analog stick to the left or right to spin him around and then press Circle followed by X (PlayStation) or B and then A (Xbox) to perform a Rear Heavy Grapple.

Brock was doing whatever he wanted, and now he wanted to give me 7 more German Suplexes in the ring!

Just like last time, the fastest way to complete this objective is to perform Brock Lesnar's front-facing German Suplex multiple times, which means grabbing Cena while facing him and then pressing X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) while holding the left analog stick to the left.

He even took the time to (Opponent) Taunt me two (2) times!

Press Right on the D-Pad to perform an Opponent Taunt and then repeat to complete the objective.

This time, the suplexes stopped only when it was time for two (2) more Heavy Combos in the ring!

Perform any two Heavy Combos inside the ring. To check Brock Lesnar's moves, players can pause the game and check out the COMBOS menu.

He stood over me while I was down in the ring, walking towards my legs. I figured he'd try a Leg Stomp Limb Target Attack here!

With Cena down in the ring, walk over toward his legs and press the Circle (PlayStation) or B (Xbox) button. Players can then follow this up by pressing X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox).

Brock knew it was over. It was a matter of hitting the F-5 in the ring...

While in the ring and with at least one bar of the Finisher meter filled up, stand in front of Cena and press either R2 + X (PlayStation) or RT + A (Xbox) to perform Brock Lesnar's F-5 finisher.

... and covering me for the pin!

With Cena down in the ring, flick the right analog stick down to perform a pin. Assuming players have dealt enough damage and are not too close to the ropes, they can actually initiate the pin while performing the aforementioned F-5 by flicking the stick down after initiating the Finisher.

WWE 2K23 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.
