2K Sports and Visual Concepts have pulled the curtain back on the WWE 2K22 release date, cover athlete, and the different bundles of the game that will be available to purchase come launch. Besides confirming Rey Mysterio as the WWE 2K22 cover star, 2K Sports has also released five new screenshots for the game, showcasing its impressive graphics as well as the long-awaited return of one of the franchise's popular game modes.

The fresh batch of WWE 2K22 screenshots give players a new look at how some WWE superstars will appear in-game. Among the superstars are active roster members Becky Lynch, Rey Mysterio, and Sasha Banks, who are all shown performing their entrances. Fans also get a look at some of the inactive stars that will be featured on the WWE 2K22 roster, namely John Cena and The Rock.

While the new WWE 2K22 screenshots for Becky Lynch, Rey Mysterio, and Sasha Banks feature them doing their entrances, the one with John Cena and The Rock shows the two facing off in the ring. This is a likely callback to the rivalry that the two had over the course of WrestleMania 27, 28, and 29, where The Rock cost John Cena his match with The Miz at WrestleMania 27, The Rock defeated Cena at WrestleMania 28, and then Cena managed to beat The Rock at WrestleMania 29.

Besides showing off how the WWE superstars will look in WWE 2K22, the developers also released a screenshot of the MyGM mode in action. For the uninitiated, MyGM is the long-awaited return of General Manager mode, a popular feature that has been missing from WWE video games for well over a decade now. In this mode, players will have to play matchmaker, putting together cards and having to take into account the cost of matches and more.

Now that WWE 2K22 fans have new screenshots to look at, the reveal of the Deluxe Edition and nWo 4-Life Edition, Rey Mysterio confirmed as the cover star, and the release date, the only thing to wait for now is a full rundown of the roster. There's still a couple of months between now and when WWE 2K22 launches, so fans shouldn't have to wait all that much longer to find out about everyone that will be featured on the final roster.

It's also quite likely that more WWE 2K22 gameplay footage will be shown between now and launch, but fans will have to stay tuned on that front.

WWE 2K22 launches March 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
