The new trailer aired by Raw for the upcoming title WWE 2K22, features fan-favorite and the game's cover star, Rey Mysterio, in the 2K Showcase Mode. This revelation comes shortly after the reveal of Rey Mysterio being featured on this year's cover, as the wrestler gave more insight during a press interview.This trailer is exciting because the point of WWE 2K22's 2K Showcase mode is to highlight a particular wrestler, who is usually the wrestler on the cover. The game mode means to showcase their most pivotal moments and, for Rey Mysterio, a 20-year-long wrestling career.Considering the insane backlash fans gave WWE 2k20, the latest trailers and returning game modes, including Showcase mode, seem like an excellent comeback for the new WWE 2k22, especially for Rey Mysterio. Mysterio has always been a fan-favorite throughout his career. His fans have adored him, famous for his 619 moves from San Diego, California, with title victories and main event matches to inspiring storylines and unforgettable moments. Mysterio being on the cover of WWE 2k22 adds to the anticipation of his 2k Showcase as the trailer features him honorably.
Among the 2k Showcase and return of modes such as the Universe mode and MyGM Mode, which allows players to become a boss and manage their own brands within WWE, the game's impressive roster of WWE Superstars and Legends only increases expectancy. This year, 2K made sure that the wrestling roster was complete with many favorites besides Mysterio, such as Legend Macho Man Randy Savage, Eddie Guererro, and Chyna. The roster also includes members from the NOW, such as the infamous Hulk Hogan, wrestling legend Kevin Nash, and Eric Bischoff.
Having Rey Mysterio as this year's 2k Showcase is a good move as developers need to make a pristine comeback to appease fans. Mysterio is inspiring for fans both young and old as he states in his press conference, "Without a doubt. We have the very first WrestleMania moment where it's Eddie versus Rey Mysterio, WrestleMania 21, WrestleMania goes Hollywood." Mysterio added, "That moment right there, that's what kicked off this feud between Eddie Guerrero and myself, And shortly after, Eddie left us... and there was another special moment that came out of that where I was able to face HBK in a memorable show that we had that night displayed for Eddie's passing, you know?"
Mysterio then proceeds to state, "And as hard as that was, that moment was very special, and I knew that Eddie was looking down and enjoying that night, along with all of us that were part of that event. But yeah, HBK versus Rey Mysterio. Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio WrestleMania 21. With the significant failure of WWE 2K20, which resulted in no WWE 2K21 title but instead another title flop, WWE 2k Battlegrounds, Mysterio's debut on the cover came with his first match with his son Dominic Gutierrez. Mysterio will team with his son to face The Miz and YouTuber/boxer Logan Paul, something fans of the superstar can look forward to on top of WWE 2K22.
WWE 2K22 will release March 11 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
