After WWE 2K20 released to widespread negative reviews, Visual Concepts and 2K Sports went back to the drawing board for WWE 2K22. Giving the game extra development time and making a concerted effort to listen to the fans, the new game looks like it's making great pains to bring the series back to its glory days. This includes the return of the fan favorite General Manager mode, known as MyGM in WWE 2K22.

So far, WWE 2K22 has only offered fans brief looks at MyGM, but now a new trailer and extensive deep dive video have provided a lot more information on what fans can expect. There was some concern that the WWE 2K22 take on MyGM would fail to capitalize on what made the mode so popular in the SmackDown vs. Raw games, but the new videos should go a long way in putting concerns to rest.

WWE 2K22's MyGM mode looks to provide an experience that should feel both familiar and new to fans of the franchise, if the newly released videos are any indication. As seen in the videos, WWE 2K22 will let players choose an existing WWE authority figure to play as, like Adam Pearce or Stephanie McMahon, or they can even make their very own General Manager this time around.

One of the most entertaining parts of the older General Manager modes was drafting one's roster of superstars, and it's good to see that's returning for WWE 2K22. WWE 2K22 players will be able to draft their own superstars, restricted only by the budget that they have at their disposal, and will also have the opportunity to sign free agents. Once they have their roster, WWE 2K22 players can start setting up shows, building to "premium live events" (WWE's new word for pay-per-views), and trying to come out as the best GM.

Based on what's been shown, it definitely seems like MyGM in WWE 2K22 will please fans of the franchise who have been hoping to see the long-awaited game mode make its comeback. It will be interesting to see how fans react once they get their hands on it, and luckily, the wait is nearly over. The WWE 2K22 release date is less than a month away, with those willing to foot some extra cash even able to get early access.

Those that spring for the $99.99 Deluxe Edition or the $119.99 nWo 4-Life Edition of WWE 2K22 will get three days early access, letting hyped WWE fans jump into the game even sooner than they originally expected. Whether or not the game lives up to expectations remains to be seen, but fans will find out sooner rather than later.

WWE 2K22 launches March 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
