WWE 2K20 has struggled, to say the least, since its launch in late October. And while Visual Concepts has worked hard on updating the game, patches haven't been as routine as WWE 2K20 may have liked. When patches do arrive, however, they are substantial and often game-changing. This past week's 1.06 patch is hopefully another example of Visual Concepts' continued dedication to improving the game. Dozens of issues have been addressed in 1.06, plus the much-anticipated Create A Championship feature has been added.

Create A Championship is by far the most requested feature for WWE 2K20 post-launch. Players are able to create a  unique championship, including its belt, and then customize the roster of wrestlers for which the championship is earnable. That includes any character on the roster, men or women, as well as custom characters. Surprisingly, there are relatively few reviews of the new mode yet, perhaps indicating that even WWE fans may not be coming back to 2K20 even with Create A Championship.

Even though Create A Championship may be the focus of 1.06, it's the fixes that are likely to prove the most valuable to players. Visual Concepts has corrected a number of crashing issues for WWE 2K20, all of which were likely to have players putting their game away if a crash happened mid-match. Fixes include crashes due to running out of memory, resuming the game from a suspended state, singing out of your platform account, just starting the game and seeing the "Legal Screen," or entering Showcase, Towers, or Originals modes. That's likely not even the entire list of ongoing crashing issues, but it's a great start and sure to make for a better game.

Dozens of other changes have been made to WWE 2K20 with patch 1.06, too. Gameplay-affecting changes aren't many, but could be substantial. The WWE 2K20 patch claims to have made "various improvements" to WWE 2K20's AI behavior, for example. Additional improvements were made to animations, collisions, and much more. Issues with WWE 2K20's online mode were also addressed, including cases of infinite loading screens or network error messages.

While it's great to see Visual Concepts, even the addition of Create A Championship isn't likely to pull back players who have been frustrated with WWE 2K20 so far. But for players who have stuck through WWE 2K20's controversies, the game should be better than ever now. Patch 1.06 is downloadable now and available across all of WWE 2K20's supported platforms.

WWE 2K20 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
