WWE 2K Battlegrounds has arrived, and with it comes over the top gameplay and vicious takedowns. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is amusing and chaotic, mixing in its WWE cast of wrestlers with cartoony moves that cannot quite be pulled off in real life. The finishers can be the highlight of a match, and executing one in-game can help in assuring victory.

Signature moves, that WWE fans may recognize, like Randy Orton's RKO and Hulk Hogan's Leg Drop are referred to as finishers in the game, and they can do major damage to opponents. A finisher move in WWE 2K Battlegrounds is much stronger than a standard punch or kick.

The Heat Bar in WWE 2K Battlegrounds

Before a finisher can be pulled off in WWE 2K Battlegrounds, players must pay close attention to the Heat bar. The white circle appears below the wrestler when playing, and over time it fills up. The Heat Bar is filled with successful hits on the opponent, so chaining together punches and kicks will result in the Heat Bar filling up more quickly.

Once the bar is filled up, players can execute the devastating signature finisher. Different wrestlers can pull off unique moves, so unlocking characters in WWE 2K Battlegrounds will result in more finishers being able to be carried out.

Executing a Finisher in WWE 2K Battlegrounds

A very important thing to note about finishers is that some need to be pulled off on an opponent who is standing up, and others can only be accomplished when the enemy is laying down on the mat. For example, Undertaker's signature Tombstone Piledriver in WWE 2K Battlegrounds is executed on a standing opponent, while Yokozuna's Banzai Drop smashes enemies who are laying on the mat.

As far as the button combination that is required for the finisher, players on the Xbox need to press LT + RT, players on the Switch will press ZL + ZR, and PlayStation users will hit the L2 + R2 buttons. It is important to remember that the Heat Bar needs to be filled up first. So players need to beat up and daze the opponent, filling up the bar, get them in position based on the style of finisher, and execute the signature move.

The cartoony nature of the game allows for the over-the-top signatures to look like never before. Taking down opponents in the various arenas in WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a visual spectacle, whether it is in front of a roaring crowd at WrestleMania or in Everglades (Swamp) in front of a crocodile.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
